  1. Somethings come up and I need funds ASAP. First one to show up with $5,000 can have it.
  2. Price drop to $5,800 firm.
  3. Yeah ive put it up but Im in no rush to sell and Im still going to make sure its in tip top shape for next owner I try and sell cars how I would like to buy them, if that makes sense.
  4. Had it checked over today, the cars all straight haha just a bit unique, Im going to get a really good suspension set up done soon and that will even it out a bit.
  5. Hi all, Some of you might know about this car, I have owned it for a couple months and spent a few grand getting it back up to a respectable, clean Z. The only problem Im having is that in this time I have only really driven it twice as I dont have the time to use it. I'd rather it be owned by someone who will enjoy it more frequently than I can and I also need the money to go towards my HECS university loan. Pics here: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/cherrybrook/cars-vans-utes/1979-datsun-280zx-coupe/1009476387 Located in Cherrybrook NSW 2126, Price is $5000 Contact Brian (myself) on 0430 054 120 Heres the stuff I wrote up copied from the eBay ad. Up for sale is my Datsun 280zx 2+2 Manual NA 1979 This car has spent half its life as a weekender and there fore has relatively low KMs and is in great condition inside and out. Selling the car as I dont use it enough to justify owning it and I feel someone else will get more enjoyment out of it, I am also trying to pay off my student loan for university. No expense has been spared on the car. A few points about the car: -Rebuilt gearbox and diff (with LSD) two years ago. -Resprayed about 6 years ago in this awesome blue colour. -Almost no rust, just a little around the windshield as pictured. -Original matching numbers engine with no mechanical issues. -Brand new Rota RBX wheels with Brand New Kumho Tyres (Fitted last week). -New suspension (KYB Shock and Aurora Springs). -Nardi Steering Wheel. -Standard Engine apart from headers (extractors) back exhaust which sounds amazing. -Underside of the car is rust free. -190,000km. -Jan 2013 Rego. -New wiperblades and Narva headlights. -All electrics (mirrors, windows, dash, gauges) work. Some not as good points: -Gas struts for boot need to be replaced as the dont hold the hatch up. -Rear parcel tray could use a re-trim. -Dash has some cracks in it, however its covered by the dash mat. -The bit of rust around the windshield. -A/C has been bypased as one of the hoses had a leak in it and needs to be replaced, cheap easy fix if you want A/C it just never bothered me and I didnt use it anyway. It blew cold air before it was disconnected. -No sound system -Although the car was resprayed a little while ago there are still some imperfections in the paint (Couple of chips here and there, aswell some cracks in the paint on the fiberglass rear hatch). I wouldnt call it winning showcar quality but it is very respectable. Overall this is a very very tidy example of a classic Fairlady Z. This particular car needs no work done to it, just general upkeep similar to that of a new car. It drives extremely well and with the new suspension and wheel set up, and the great exhaust note, gets a lot of positive attention on the road. You could easily drive this daily as it is extremely reliable and fun to drive. If you have any queries or would like to inspect the car please contact me (Brian) on 0430 zero five four 120. Pick up from Cherrybrook 2126 NSW, however if you arrange an interstate transporter I am happy to help. Price will go up in about a month when I renew rego.
  6. Little update here. Got new studs, shocks, springs, tyres and steering wheel installed into the car.
  7. Wheels and tyres are brand new and have been measured they are deffinately the same, I just put in new shocks and springs and studs so Ive pulled it all apart and put it back together, its all the same 280z hubs non scalloped. Going to take it to a shop on the weekend and get them to check out all the alignment of both wheels and chasis etc so we will have to wait and see I guess. Also the struts are of the same distance aswell. I just noticed also the right rear is also pertruding slightly more than the rear left but not as noticable as the front..
  8. Hi there, Wasnt sure which subforum to post this in but basicly my front right wheel (17x9 -13) is almost flush with the guard and then my front left wheel (same specs) is inset by a very noticable amount. Im concerned there is something seriously wrong with the car, Ive measured the guard space and they are even so its not that, Ive also measured the mounting points for the guards in the engine bay on diagonals to see if that measured up the same, and it was fine. Any insight? Maybe this is common? The car is a 79 280zx 2+2, only owned it for about a month now. Here are a couple pics, Right Left Thank you in advance!
  9. Thanks everyone for the support Did a bit more just tidying up today, installed a battery clamp etc just simple safety stuff haha Picking up new KYB shocks and Aurora springs (30mm drop) tomorrow and Ive also got new studs on the way. Also going to order all new bushes, so suspension will get a complete overhaul. Ordered some KU31 tyres as well cos the current ones are stuffed, going for 225 45 17. Im trying to rebuild my savings a bit haha so not spending too much at the moment! Also going to take off the spacers in the front, so I am having hub clearance issues due to the weird shape of them, either going to shave the hub or the rim haha
  10. So this car has a few skeletons in its closet... Firstly some of the coolant hoses were punctured in places causing overheating, so I have replaced them all and done a coolant flush today. Secondly the way the hubs/spacers/wheels were fit is just.... In the front; 10mm bolt on + 5mm slip on + another 3mm slip on In the rear; just a 20mm bolt on The real issue is that the original studs were cut flush with the spacers, so basicly without spacers theres a stud which is this long ------------- Ive ordered 16 new ones and will replace them all, at the moment the car is unsafe to drive as I can only get 4 turns on the lugs. Lastly all the bushes are completely f.....rooted. So I will replace all them, install new studs and get a proper wheel alignment. Ive got the car just sitting on the new wheels at the moment, heres a quick picture.
  11. damn your car looks awesome man! ok thats good news otherwise ill just head to parramatta and buy some haha going to fit them tomorrow morning, in terms of lug nut torque setting im going to go for 90nm, this sound right?
  12. haha for sure! yeah just the usual 9 -13 and 9.5 -19, ive got 225 50 r17 on them for now coz i had a set of KU31s lying around, any idea if ill need flares? couple of pics doesnt bother me that a lot of z's run these, i like the look of them haha and i had trouble finding anything else with decent offset
  13. Yeah it's bens old car. I'm not that old! Only 21 haha would rather hear the car and keep it period correct Thanks for the kind words, going to try my best to build a respectable zx My wheels arrived this morning, nothing original to the z just some rotas but will be better than the positive offset wheels with 20mm spacers currently on the car haha Ill try and get them on tomorrow and post up a few pictures
  14. First few little things Ive done to tidy up the car a bit. I took off the head light covers, just a personal preference thing: Painted the bonnet vents black instead of super sparkly baby blue: Removed the sound system and all the wiring from the car: Made up a dash insert to cover up where it had been chopped up for the head unit out of some wood and leather: And then cleaned up and detailed the interior: New wheels are arriving tomorrow, so that should be awesome!
