  1. Hi all, (images of my 260Z to be posted shortly) Well it has taken me a while to actually post on here; I've avoided it as I know how annoying it is when anew topic is created around "who is the best mechanic in Melbourne for Zeds?" if this has already been answered many times previously. Alas, I could not find anything recent enough for me to contact anyone. I DID find a forum with my exact question, however it was posted in 2005 and I feel the information is out of date; there was mention of a 'Costa' but no contact information, there was also the mention of a "Daniel Moore" in Burwood - I chased up information on this and the contact numbers for DJM Automotive online either ring out with no answer or is not connected (assuming the company has moved or inexistent). Finally, I contacted 'Lindsay' at Z Shop - he was not greatly helpful and insisted they would need the car for a whole week - which made me sceptical about getting a lot of $ out of me. Can anyone point me in the right direction of a good Melbourne mechanic that knows plenty about Zeds? A bit of background information about my 260Z...... This orange 1977 260Z 2+2 is my first car, I drove it a lot from the age of 18 - 23. Now 27 years of age, it has been off the road for a few years now; moving from my hometown, Bendigo to living in Melbourne meant that I didn't want to be driving every day in congested traffic - in an attempt to preserve it. It has mostly been undercover and started up every 2 weeks. It is mostly original apart from a subtle sound system - I still have all the original radio etc in boxes along with many other bits and pieces. Unfortunately, like most Zeds the dashboard has suffered from the classic sun damaged cracking. Frustratingly enough, my dad had 3X Zeds in our 1 acre backyard in Bendigo at one stage. This was the 3rd; so technically this WASN'T my first car - the first (which I never got to drive on the road) was a red stripped back 260Z with extractors and a mint condition dash. Dad and I worked in this one for a good 9 months or so to get it ready for roadworthy - took it to dad's reliable mechanic mate whom he's known for years - when we went back to see what he thought, the news was rough - rusted throughout the body and in sections that would be too costly, we gave it away and got this one. Should have swapped the dash! Where I'm at with this at the moment? - being off the road for several years, it needs a good look over, tune up for a re-registering. - once back on the road, I'll register for a 90 day club permit - when ready dollar-wise, I then want to go right through this thing and get all rust looked at, cut out / body replacements - constant maintenence to original condition Thanks for reading and would greatly appreciate any assistance with the subject heading. All the best, Sam
