  1. Yeah Im definitely after the torque of forced induction . I wanted to keep to turbo because it has been done a thousand times before with every combination possible, from the stock setup, to the machine Peter is building now. Plenty of info out there on it too. I am new to the turbo scene and just trying to get some direction. The P90 may be the cheapest part in the conversion but its a saving of $2-300 regardless of where it comes in order of value. Are the manifold patterns the same between N42 and P90? Luke
  2. If going aftermarket, what is a good size turbo that will come on boost nice and early and breathe for a while after? p.s Keep in mind this aint no track motor, just a good ol donk I wanna get more guts out of. I want to explore turbo options with the N42 head before going a P90. Purley because I have a spare one sitting in my shed
  3. Any updates on this monster yet? Has to be close to turnkey now!
  4. Food for thought, what would happen/fail if I were too mechanically plumb a turbo in to the system i have now, upgrade injectors and exhaust. LEAVING current ecu, manifold, head. Not saying Im planning on it, just to better understand the mod and how it will affect what ive got now..
  5. haha sorry, fuel pump is 1500lpm fuelmiser? item. Was the stock turbo setup not very powerful/reliable? in other words not even worth throwing stock parts in? Or are they too scarce to be affordable vs aftermarket? I am planning on making all the manifolds and exhaust myself. And didnt have my heart set on intercooling either (not ruling it out just didnt think needed for around 8-10psi)
  6. I have just converted my carbed L28 to EFI and didn't pick up as much power as i would've liked, so the turbo option popped into mind! Ive been reading for a while and it seems a little more complicated than I thought, with mentions of upgrading ECU, injectors, manifold, fuel pump. Couple of questions, I have F54 block with N42 head, dished pistons. So should handle boost fine. 1. What extra parts do i need to do the conversion start to finish? 2. Is it worth (power vs cost) gathering stock parts for the conversion? or a mixture of aftermarket and stock bits? I want to keep it under 1K. The motor is in a Nissan Patrol (dare i say it) and I want boost in the 1500-5000rpm range? if thats possible 3. Will i need a new wiring loom and ECU? 4. I have a 1500psi fuel pump with the EFI. Im assuming this is enough for turbo? 5. Can the EFI intake manifold be used? Thanks guys, really appreciate some help! Luke
  7. Could it be a faulty FPR giving too much fuel pressure and injecting too much? quick thought i had..
  8. I have just converted to EFI on the L28 and my idle is up around 2000rpm?? How do i bring i back down to something more appropriate? Cheers Luke
  9. G'day guys I have just converted my carby L28 to EFI and it will not run at all! It cranks over very slowly (fully charged battery) for some reason and will not even get a cough, fart, or any sign of ignition?? Can anyone help? Cheers Luke
  10. Found what i was lookin for. Thanks for the offers guys
  11. when converting to EFI i bought a whole bunch of 8mm bolts to suit the carby intake manifold but EFI uses different hole in the block, seems 10mm. Can anyone recollect the actuall thread? i think its M10x1.25. Google wasnt much help either.. Cheers
  12. You're a lifesaver mate, im sure there will be a pos old VL at a wreckers somewhere!
