Here are some pics. There pretty bad pictures but i don't have access to the car atm. I just took some unhappy snaps when it came back from the shop to show dad. Not sure if you can see but the first pic is the aluminum that the previous owner stuck over the rail. The second one is the dents in it.
-
Sadly it has a twisted and dented chassis rails which could be fixed but i don't have the time, funds or experience. So heres it is up for sale. Its a 1977 260z 2+2 which is purely stock and complete. Engine runs well. 5 speed manual. Dash has cracks. So does centre console. No RWC obviously will need to be towed. I am situated in Ballarat, Victoria. PM or e-mail would be best with a phone number and offer. tmurnane8@gmail.com Will be sold to highest offer it needs to go. Depresses me every time i see it lol

The rails are pretty bad. It was in a prang before my dad bought it 10years ago and the guy pulled one over on him. He had put aluminum over the badly dented rails and body filled it then painted it to make it look like it was ok. He was pretty annoyed when i told him as was I. It will need a replace that's for sure. Its up for sale anyway. Car is complete and running fine just the chassis is hacked.

Yeh it still needs alot of other things done to it. Like the mechanic said 2.5k to fix mechanics so its not really worth my time. Nor do i have the funds. The body is in good condition except for the passenger side guard. Only a small amount of surface rust on back drivers quarter size of 50cent piece. And theres minor paint chipping on headlight surrounds. Ill take some pictures when it gets here and put it up.

Yeah he said it would be a big job cause he'd have to strip it and replace both the rails. Still thought that price was very high. Any ideas on price? Ive been offered $500 for the whole car which i think is a bit crap.

Hey I have a 260z 2+2 that I had hoped to get up and running but as title suggests it has a twisted front left chassis i think the rails which according to the panel beaters will cost me 6k to get fixed. So im shattered. I would like to get an estimate on how much i could sell all the parts for. Its a complete stock car with a running engine. 5 speed manual gearbox. This topic could probably go in parts selling topic but I have a "friend" who also wants it but obviously not going to him for free so i would just like an estimate. If its a decent estimate itll go up for sale on the forums. Thanks guys.

Alright so having a look around I noticed there's a lot of engines that don't have E.G.R control valve, Servo diaphragm, anti-backfire thing and similar stuff. Can these be removed from my engine ('77 l26) without becoming illegal? I heard that because of emissions control enforced at the time it was illegal to take these out unless you had older carb's. Is that true or have I been miss informed?
-
Thanks a heap sushi that was a good write up. I'll have a real good look around hybridz see what I can do.
-
Not sure if this should go in engine or fuel systems but here goes. Looking at my engine its pretty clear it doesn't look nice. Its the stock engine to give you an idea of what it looks like. Now looking at a lot of peoples engines they just look a lot simpler and cleaner which is what im trying to achieve. Now im just looking for a direction as to things to remove/add to clean it up? There seems to be a heap of stuff between the carbs and the rocker cover which your "clean" engines don't have. Is this the emission control system? On hybridz it says stuff about removing the emissions control system but I think that would require 240z carbs yes? If im way off on this please say and ill give up and try croquet or something. Thanks in advance

Wheel fit. Sorry i know its been done to death.
TmurnaneX replied to TmurnaneX's topic in Wheels and Tyres
Maybe ill go 17" wheels. Fronts with 7.5" +12 and rears with 8.5" +4 Will the rears fit better? And will the fronts still fit? Not sure if i want to go up to 9" at the rear but ill look into it. Not sure if you can get 17"x7 but I'm pretty sure they'll all fit. If my calculations were right there's a change of about 2mm or something. -
Hey guys. I know this has a billion topics but i can't seem to get a definite answer. If i could just get a few questions answered that would be great. I have a stock 260z 2+2 I was thinking Rota RB wheels 16"x7 +4 offset on the front and 16"x8+4 on the back. Now the questions The 2+2 has a bigger area for the wheels? So could i go 16"x8 on all corners or would that stick out the side? (don't want that obviously) 2. Will that offset fill out the guards? (I don't have flares) 3. Will they rub anywhere? Please don't flame me as I know its probably been covered a lot but I'm just double checking as its all a bit over the place. Andrew "Chicken" Hunter posted a good idea a while ago too (couple years) about getting a table sorta deal with all the maximum sizes and offsets for all models with the various mods e.g. flares, coil overs, stock. Here's the link http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,3062.0.html I think this would be a great idea. Thanks in advance guys. Murnane

As heading says the synchros in the first and second gear are gone. I have a 1977 260z. What are peoples thoughts on it. As in, would it be worth getting a pro to replace just the synchros or should I try find a used replacement gearbox? I've heard gearboxes that fit are hard to come by? How much do you think it would cost? Thanks in advance

O really that would be good. It's a 2+2. I e-mailed the Z-shop in Melbourne about it and they said it would be around $450 for a replacement used diff. $300 for front left suspension replacement. That's without the hourly rate which doesn't sound to bad to me. However reading a post earlier people weren't to keen on sharing their opinions on the Z-shop. Any particular reason why? Is there a cheaper way to get these parts? I know some people that could fit these parts relatively easily if I had them. -
Hey just pulled out 260z from my dad's shed that has been sitting there for nearly 10 years and thought id get it up and running, as he says I can have it if I get it working. I was just wondering if anyone knows of a place in Ballarat (in Victoria) I can take it to so they can have a look at it and repair it? From what I know to get it ready for at least a road worthy inspection: A replacement diff. Replacement front left suspension. Fix syncros in first and second gear. Engine looks fine but ill get them to have a look over anyway. Thanks in advance
