  1. yup. Pulled the triple carbs off and sold the rest for $1500. was a shame to let it go so cheap but needed it out of the place. Carbs have a deposit on em from a bloke down in Sydney. I'll stick em on ebay if that falls through, i noticed a set of triple delortos went for over 1200$ there the other day without the trumpets included.
  2. An update for anyone whos interested: discovered on the weekend head gasket is blown :'( The whole motor was built by a bloke named Steve Jordan up here, not sure if his name is familiar to anyone but a motor built by this bloke isn't junk, even if it needs a head gasket and some possible repairs to the head. Doing that piddly amount of work will still be far better than starting from scratch. Have had several discussions with people wanting the carbs seperately. Happy to do this, even though i think its a waste taking them of that motor , so if anyone wants the car alone with the carbs taken off it (i have the original hitachi things if you want to put yourself through that torture) feel free to give me a call. With the blown head gasket the price for the whole lot has obviously dropped substantially. Anything over $2500 would buy it right now.
  3. Yup will hang around most of the day, there's another bloke coming to have a look in an hour or so. I'll be out after 3 give or take. PH:0400013557
  4. shame on me. just been discussing the aircon with my brother, apparently there is a compressor in it with all the pipes hooked up but the belt is off the compressor as the pulleys don't line up with the ones on the 280 motor. Aircon specialist thought the pipes in the dash may have needed seals etc. Can't vouch for anything past that other than it used to work with the 260 motor in it. Think the pulleys we have on that are different to the original 260 motor.
  5. oh, forgot about the rust. its not all the way through. would say around the 50% through mark on a section 12cm wide and 8cm long on the back. I have dug at a bit of it with a screw driver and hit solid metal underneath but is a layer or two that comes off. It really needs to be checked in person. If i were restoring the whole thing back to immaculate again i would definitely be cutting it out. The same with the rust on the door sills. Both these areas are fresh rust too, they've never been cut out. There were originally some rust spots in the front somewhere that were repaired around 6 or 7 years ago, nothing has resurfaced there. the work was done by a family friend and we were very particular about it.
  6. rear seats are ok, front seats cracked at the seams like they seem to commonly do. Runs on unleaded, prefers premium. We have a lot of timing issues on normal unleaded that aren't apparent on premium. I have a Jacobs Pro Street ignition and Ultra Coil on Ebay i'll throw in if it doesn't sell on ebay. Needs a bigger spark i think. theres no aircon. well at least there is no compressor in the shed so i assume it never had aircon at all. Might be worth dropping out to have a look at eh?
  7. Space is pretty tight so hard to get decent side shots.
  8. Its fine to drive, the tires need air but are practically new. Don't think there are any oil leaks from the engine, gearbox, diff or steering rack and all the rubber boots have been replaced in the last few years and still in tact. Seatbelts and seats are all ok for RW, not sure if they would have an issue with the center console not being installed. Brakes are as good as they can be, theres a set of spare drums lying there so i think my brother replaced those and machined the front discs. The rust in the rear of the boot would probably be an issue for RW (check photos) and i haven't checked the lights. 90% sure the heater fan works. Wiper rubbers and other minor things might need to be replaced.
  9. I'll grab some more photos tonight. It was last registered ~8months ago (about the same time it became a permanent resident in the carport). My brother now lives in Coffs Harbour, so we could probably work something out to get it halfway to Sydney ;-)
  10. I'm putting up my brothers 260z for sale. The car has actually been in our family since its birth (my dads car - originally silver - passed on to my brother) but has had plenty of work along the way. My brother has moved interstate and neither of us have time to play with it anymore or the room to keep it so its time to let it go. The description below makes it sound fairly ordinary as i'm being up front about some issues with it, but it was a sweet car when we originally had it immaculate, some TLC will bring it back to life. Model: 260z 2+2 Location: Kenmore, Brisbane Item Condition: needs some attention to bring it back to excellent. Body: very straight, but small patch of rust under the doors, small patch rust under the rear hatch and some surface rust near the fuel cap. paint is otherwise really good. Interior: very poor. cracked dash. The center console is in the boot but relatively in tact. Mechanical: I had it running last night but it has been sitting in the garage for ~8months now. It has been run every month to keep it turning but it needs sparkplugs etc as its running pretty rough. Really needs a good run to clear out the carbs etc. Price and Payment Conditions: We really have no idea what its worth to someone. Offers around $3000 would buy it immediately. We'll accept near offers but the lower they are the longer i'll hold off on it for a better one. We were offered $3300 for it 6 months ago but couldn't part with it (figured we bring it back to life). Things have changed since then. Registration: no reg. Engineers Certificate: not required. Extra Info: Suspension is fully rebuilt by TSR with lowered stiffer springs and recon shocks, handles really well. We've replaced the originally 260 motor with the 280 motor, Gemini race pistons, lightened crank and flywheel, blueprinted block, heavily ported head, 72degree cam(not sure if that means much my brother has just written that on a postit as a note), ceramic coated extractors, 2.5" exhaust, triple Mikuni carbs. Dyno'd 198hp @ the wheels ~4years ago when it was immaculate. I think we've got a 240K gearbox in there which is in excellent condition. To go with it there is the blown original diff, (it currently has a bigger one in it), the original 260 motor - matching serial with car and with the original *jap version of SU* carbs. Contact Details: phone:0400013557 Like i said, it used to be a sweet car, its just a shame that its been sitting for so long now.
