    Dodgy repair.

    From the album: Menzcar

This pillar has almost no structural qualities whatsoever. Its rusted almost through, and the previous owner (or the one before that, I'm sure you didnt do it Dave) has filled it with bog (literally filled all the way through).

    More rust.

    From the album: Menzcar

Not too bad, but more cutting and new steel to replace shortly.

    Not quite right.

    From the album: Menzcar

If I had made the uprights 100mm longer then I could have achieved full rotation. Doesnt really matter though.

    Beaver panel rust

    From the album: Menzcar

This doesnt look too good. Will replace with either new panel or make one myself thats a bit stronger so as to make more ridgid.

    Rear rotary mount

    From the album: Menzcar

Used the existing bumper holes for rear mount.

    Rotisserie

    From the album: Menzcar

Probably wasnt the right time to bung it on a rotisserie but Ive never made one before and I was eager to give it a go.

    Rotisserie base

    From the album: Menzcar

Using 4mm tube for the base and 6mm tube for the upright and support. Didnt need to be this thick but i used leftover steel from the welding shop across the road.

    Front Rotary mount

Drilled a couple of holes in the radiator panel and bolted on.

  13. Photos will start to come now that I have worked out how to upload them. Do have all the necessary tools for whichever way I go. Being a landscaper you tend to wind up with loads of tools and a huge set of skills, including every form of welding, brazing, lead filling etc. Please feel free to check out my gallery which will start to grow in a couple of days. If you think I'm doing anything wrong any comments would be good (I'm a big boy, I can handle a slap when I need it). Thanks. Menzed.

    Workshop

    From the album: Menzcar

Cleared out 1/3 of the workshop for the project.

    Existing engine.

    From the album: Menzcar

Ran pretty well, has an obvious cam, holly carb. The points and dizzy need replacement and recurve to suit cam. The oil gauge fluctuated so probably needs new pump.
  18. Why called a beaver panel? There was a pussy cat living in the car when I found it, but no signs of a beaver.
  19. Thanks for the replies. Am going to seem weld anyway, theres a hot rod builder a couple of sheds down from me who seems to work on his cars at crazy times like me, so may try to get him to show me how to lead fill. can fill with solder, or mig weld, sure he'll know the best way. At least the roof isnt about to fall off which is what I first thought when I saw it. Am also going to roll cage, but will build one that is moulded into existing frame so that you can hardly notice that it is there. Cheers.
  20. Im doing a blow through supercharger, so can mount the unit anywhere, either side of the engine, so the extractors wont get in the way. Have driven loads of turbos, but to enjoy them u usually end up doing 120km/hr in a 60 zone. Also a supercharger is more fuel efficient - depending on how u drive it, which in my case means it wont be more fuel efficient. Other than that, everyone does turbo. Have driven a few supercharged holdens, and for everyday driving (read not on a race track) you can feel the power and enjoy it even at low revs(not using a centrifugul turbo style blower). Cheers.
  21. I want to supercharge my L28. Have done a bit of research and will probably go for a Sprintex, although they advertise how quiet they are (would prefer a noisy one). If anyone has any experience with this any advice would be good, ie best mounting position, intercooler mounting and pipe set-up, brackets to hold in place(which I will make myself) etc. Cheers.
  22. Have read previous post on the stress fractures in the pillars. I have one on each pillar (4) and they are all where seams are welded. Do these need to be fixed in some way? perhaps a bit of extra welding, or do you just grind out the crack and fill it? Also I have read that the 240 body has a bit of flex in it so am looking at other welding and strengthening. Any help would be good. Found my 240z(2 seater) buried under a vine in a customers house I was cleaning up, nabbed it, stripped it, made a rotisserie, and am about to do a number on it. Also any advice on replacing the rusted rear support that holds the boot latch - rusted where water sits on the top flat surface. Would have put some pics in but havent worked out how to yet. Cheers.
