  2. Hey people, I found a 240z at a wrecker with an L28 in it. The car has a fair bit of rust and a few thumb size holes. The guy wont go lower than 4k - I was wondering if anyone thinks that is an alright price or if I should keep searching? The biggest problem is I couldnt see the car properly as it was surrounded by other cars, parts, scaffolding and other junk. Dirty as hell too - mustve been sitting there a fair while. I am very tempted to just bite the bullet and buy the thing. Any advice is appreciated! -Ray
  3. Yea I saw that SR 260 - it goes well and was part of my inspiration in the project.. That teamed with wangan midnight. RBZ260 - Thanks so much buddy!! That is the sort of thing I was looking for (luckily I had already found most of that stuff through various sites, and am tracking most of it down at the moment). Wiring is probably not something I would do personally - I was never really good at that stuff but as far as I know slotting the engine in shouldnt be too much of an issue using good mounts. I would take the shafts to someone to have them modified. I would also have the IC piping fabricated to suit... At the moment the car I am interested in buying has bigger brakes so hopefully they will be good enough to stop the car, but if not I will look into upgrades!!   5. I have seen HybridZ and also checked out the vilidini mounts etc... there is also another company called Mckinny who do mounts for anyone interested.. But I was more interested in the conversion process etc... There are heaps of threads like this for other cars and engine swaps. It would give people like me the confidence to do it ourselves... Then stuff it up ourselves. ahhah but yea anyway if anyone knows where I can find a conversion thread that explains the conversion with detail I would be real interested!! (I am also looking for one on the RB25det if anyone knows wheere there is one of those??) Thanks anyway guys! -Rayray
  6. I am surprised I cannot find an SR into s30 thread as I know there are a few floating around!! If anyone out there is reading this and has a nice little SR sitting in their engine bay why dont you write up how you did it, what were the problems you encountered and also chuck up some pics!! Something step by step would be great - a little too time consuming for most I imagine!! Any help here would be great! -Rayray P.S- (I have searched and found nothing that matches this description - I am sure there are threads out there but if there are shouldnt they be in this section?)
  7. Hey people, Yea I did have a search but didnt really find the information that I was after! I have found a few Zs in Sydney that I will be looking at soonish - I am just dreading the rust! I will look in the usual places and hopefully it will not be too much. One quick question though - will the L28 turbo manifold bolt on to the L26 block? Any help appreciated! -Rayray
  8. Hey sup everybody, My name is Ray, I am from Sydney (north) and I am currently on the hunt for a 240z or 260z... I have been quite obssesed with these zees for a while now and I have decided to bite the bullet and live the dream ahha... I sold my Japspec SSS and am buying a Z and another car for a daily... I have a few questions that will hopefully aid me on my search; - Firstly - what are the differences between the 240 and 260 aside from the engine? It seems as though the front end looks a little different sometimes? - Also is it possible to bolt on a 280z turbo manifold onto a 260z block if I was to do a bolt on? (I realise injection would be needed here) - What size turbo do people recommend for the 2.6lt? For a street driven possibly raced Z , I do not need HUGE power figures, maybe full boost early and some good G force!! I was thinking a GT30 size turbz... Any help is much appreciated!   9. Hey everyone, My name is Ray - I currently own a japspec pulsar, but eventually want to buy a project 240/260z... I am currently searching for an example that has as clean a body as possible as I dont want to be caught by lots of rust.. I have found one with a small dent and niceish paint - stewart wilkons l26 with injected l28 head that looks appealing, although I am a little worried about its history as I think it was a hillclimb car! Anyway I am going through these forums and finding a crapload of useful information so thanks heaps and wish me luck in my search for my new beast!! -Ray p.s- any tips of places to look would be great, or if you have an old Z that might make a good project that you wanna see go to a good home, shoot me a PM!

    SR20 vs RB25

    mmmm I see... There are a couple examples of 260 gearboxes with R32 internals... Im assuming the stock gearbox cannot mate up with other engines? Eg SR, RB?? Seems the easiest option might be to boost the stock engines? Only prob may be the stock gearbox and diff breaking under the pressure? Thanks for you help RB!! edit : also seen examples of FJ20 turbo gboxes mated to the L26 engine.. Wondering what other gearbox options there are...

    SR20 vs RB25

    Hi Im just wondering which of the two engines is most cost effective and easier?? Which engine is easiest with gearbox/tailshaft connection?? Do both engines and their gearboxes connect up with the stock 240/260 tailshaft and diff or do you need to customize these to suit?? Sorry if these are noob questions, but I am a noob!! Thanks -Ray
