Yes Pauly, I did this in 1999, bugger that sounds a long time ago now. I used the 1ggze unit in my old P90 L28. I discarded the original magnetic clutch pulley and machined down a EF Falcon serpentine belt tensioned pulley, I can?t remember the size of it now but I think it was about 70 mm. In the end it gave about 5psi boost, which was about its limit with the flat top pistons and no intercooler. On the road it had fantastic bottom end and mid range. The top end was no better than the original NA engine due to drive losses and very high inlet temps due to a very old design compressor. A better unit would be the Eaton with it?s helical twist rotors, which produce less pulsation and therefore better adiabatic efficiency.
But if I was going to do it again and im looking at supercharging my hill climb car, id use a Lysholm screw compressor, like a Sprintex or Autorotor, these units have a better adiabatic efficiency, which means more boost with less heat. But it would cost you 10 times the price of a Toyota unit.
So was it worth it, yes as a street car the Toyota blower made the car feel as if it had a 4 litre engine at an rpm up to 5000rpm it was good. But for competition it is too small and to inefficient.
Here are some photos of it, look in the ?old Zed? http://au.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/arkij60/my_photos
