Thinking of shaving my P90 head to up the compression ratio to 10:1 on my future L28 rebuild. Can I bypass the need for shimming up the cam towers, if I just install a adjustable cam sprocket?

I am trying to keep my car factory standard. I also though you would need the combination of both mechanical and vacuum advance to keep the correct igition timing.?
