Well i bought kenny's old 240Z (introductory post here http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,6692.0.html)

Thought you guys might like to have a squiz at this old school blower set up that came with the car.

I'm somewhat tempted to get it going but there must have been a reason why it was disconnected. I know turbo fed carbys are difficult to tune and i assume its not much different with a supercharger, but it couldnt be that hard since it would only run a low 6 or 7 psi?

I don't know what blower it is but i'm pretty certain it is a Toyota MR2 item.

The pulley is off the car, but it appears to just bolt onto the original crank pulley. It also appears to have a Mad Max style switch to turn it off and on.  8)

I doubt i would use the original pipework, as it looks like something you would find in a toilet block.

So yeah who knows... maybe i'll just sell it if anyone is interested?

If i was going to use this i would ad fuel injection first. Im not a fan of plow throw carby boost

the blower looks like an sc12 toyota blower. I had a sc14 on a datsun 1200 with an a15 motor it was a whole lot of fun with instant boost at the flick of a switch

Yes fuel injection is the way to go, although i dont want to throw a bunch of money at it until i get other more important issues sorted first. i'm more a turbo guy anyways.

But it is tempting to give this a shot as all the hard work has been done, and hey if it runs like a dog i can just take off the belt and fit the original air filter.

What sort of tuning issues are there with superchargers and SU's? I imagine you end up tuning them rich at idle so they dont lean out too much up top on boost?

i dont know i have never seen an su /hitachi as a blow through set up. Most of the carby sc12/ 14 superchargers i have seen have been suck through.

You will need a good blow off valve because you have positive boost on deceleration and need to vent it some where or you will blow pipes of ir seals in carbys

Did a bit more research, it's definatly been done before but its not worth the trouble for a measly 6psi or whatever.

I'd rather spend money and time on an RB conversion, but thats a fair ways down the track yet  ;)

So anyone want to buy the set up? Would be a great starting point for a twin charge project for you L28ET guys  :o
