Under the bonnet is now the 2.8-litre straight-six from a 280Z, which sends around 170bhp to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. First registered in the second half of 1973, this 240Z has been given a tasteful restoration, and benefits from a recent major service. EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES The sleek styling of the 240Z has been updated with a 260Z bonnet and custom fender vents, before being refinished in a striking red colour. In the engine bay sits the L28 2.8-litre straight-six from the 280Z, that has been given an extra boost of power with an aftermarket exhaust system and a pod style air filter. The interior features the original Datsun steering wheel and has been fitted with aftermarket but period correct SAAS sport seats. The vehicle has been lowered with new springs and rides on gold 15-inch 8-spoke ‘Watanabe’ style alloy wheels. The odometer indicates 20,616km, though the true mileage is unknown. CONDITION There is no body damage, and the chassis shows no history of accident damage. The seller states there are no signs of rust. The vehicle had been a long-term restoration project, sadly ending up in a deceased estate. The vehicle was resprayed some years ago and is in good condition as shown in the gallery. Inside, the vehicle presents very well, with the SAAS sports seats in good shape. The dash, door trims and roof lining are all in excellent order, and everything works as it should. It is reported to be in exceptionally good mechanical order and said to drive extremely well – the seller reports no oil leaks, rattles, knocks or whines. All electrics work as they should SERVICE HISTORY The most recent service was performed in August 2021 by Corse Automotive. An engine oil and filter replacement were performed, the differential fluid, transmission fluid and brake fluid replaced. New spark plugs and new ignition leads fitted. In the past 12 months, the electric window motors have also been replaced.
