1973 Datsun 240Z

Quote

KEY FACTS

This Datsun 240Z is an iconic and desirable classic Japanese sports car, offered from long-term ownership and benefitting from an extensive previous restoration.
Under the bonnet now sits a naturally aspirated 2.8-litre ‘L28’ straight-six, fed by triple SU carburettors, which sends its power to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.
This example has been with the seller for 17 years.
The odometer indicates 89,930 miles, though this is not warranted.
Build year: 1973
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

This 240Z is finished in the vibrant hue of Electric Blue Metallic, over a blue part vinyl and cloth-trimmed interior.
It rides on a set of 14-inch cross-spoke alloy wheels fitted with Toyo 600-F5 tyres.
Equipment includes a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a top-tinted windscreen, an analogue clock, and heater and ventilation controls.
This example has been upgraded with a 2.8-litre ‘L28’ engine, a front chin spoiler, a Philips CD stereo, and Sony Xplod rear cabin speakers.
The car comes with a collection of maintenance invoices and restoration documentation, including an itemised parts list and photos.
CONDITION

Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.
Specific notes from the seller include: the car was fully resprayed and the interior was retrimmed as part of the restoration in 2008. There is a blemish on the bonnet, left-hand wing, passenger door, boot, right-hand rear wing, driver’s door and roof.
The seller notes that second gear is inclined to drop out when not under load, and the passenger door lock is faulty, though it still opens from inside.
SERVICE HISTORY

This 240Z’s most recent maintenance was carried out in September 2023 at an indicated 89,489 miles by Audiinos Performance, which consisted of new brake and clutch master cylinders, clutch slave cylinder and hoses being fitted, new reconditioned brake callipers and wheel cylinders fitted, the front brake pads replaced, the handbrake adjusted, the brake and clutch fluids flushed and bled, a new carter electric fuel pump installed, an in-line fuel filter fitted, the carburettors being stripped, cleaned and rebuilt with new jets, gaskets, needle and seat, a new choke cable assembly installed, the immobiliser removed, the brake vacuum check valve replaced, an engine service and check over, the spark plugs replaced, a K&N air filter service, the perished front suspension bushes replaced, the radiator flushed and bled, and the coolant renewed.
Maintenance carried out during the restoration in 2008 included a new radiator being fitted, new Lovell springs installed, new shock absorbers, new Nolathane steering rack mounts and front and rear sway bar bushes, new rear suspension bushes installed, a full respray, all new tyres fitted, the interior retrimmed with new carpets, vinyl, roof lining, and seat upholstery, the dashboard top replaced, and the window, door and hatch rubbers and seals replaced.
