DATZ Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 hey i just got a 1971 satsun 240z. i dont have a motor or trans but i got everything else. i want to find out what is easy, affordible. im looking at a sr-20 or a rb26. are there any convertion kits or how to's. anything would help thanks cody Quote
sco_aus Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 RBs are the easier conversion, but RB26 is not very affordable. I would suggest RB25, cheaper and still easy to get power out of. There is a fair bit of info on this topic on this forum. Do a search and you should find plenty on it. I dont know much about SR conversions, but i know the RB is easier. Quote
DATZ Posted June 27, 2007 Author Posted June 27, 2007 yea i would rather have a rb then a sr. what did you do with your 240? Quote
sco_aus Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 A lot. You can see it all on my cardomain link on my signature, but the actuall mounting process? Well in Japan they released a Z31(first 300zx) with an RB20DET, this was called the 200ZR. The engine mounts, sump and pick up from this car all bolt an RB straight into the all model Zs (i have 260Z by the way). The gearbox will need a custom mount but it shouldnt cost too much, the best bit is that the gear shifter will come straight into the original hole. Everything else on my car is custom, so you could do the same, or retro fit other parts from skylines etc. If you are tossing up between RB20 and 25, bang for buck would be 25. SR20 is a better way to go for 2ltr engines (more torque and lighter engine). this is my zed http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2524481 Quote
