Headlights

Hi all

 

Just wondering if anyone can offer any suggestions before i book the car in with an auto electrician. I was driving along and all of a sudden i lost a little bit of power and then my headlights died (both). However they do still work if i press the little button for the high beam.

 

I tried replacing the fusses but that didn't work.

 

Any suggestions???

what happened to me is the wiring contact point thing on the switch stalk fell off, like un soldered, so i'd try that as its most likely the issue, as the highbeam button has a seperate relay which turns on all lights at once, and since that works i'd say its down to the switch.

 

i followed the wiring diagram and also made a bypass switch for the headlights whcih hangs down on the door side of the steering wheel so if i ever have an issue i'm not stuck in the dark, although the wires there are a pain to get to...
