bullzed Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Has anyone ever had any experience with the 280ZX digital dash? Do all plugs from the analogue dash plug straight into it? Also does anyone have any idea where to find one in Australia? Cheers Zac Quote
. Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Oh I guess you want me to provide more detail. I have one. No the plugs don't match. You could probably jimmy something up. You can have mine for $20. Quote
bullzed Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 Hahah wow, that's very generous of you! I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands! Only problem is, wiring is the death of me, could you elaborate on the difficulty of 'jimmy'-ing? Quote
. Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 The plugs don't match at all. The dash only has one side of each plug (female I think). So you would either need to source the other sides of the plugs (maybe from the USA). Or you could remove the existing plugs and solder on something more familiar (eg a standard off the shelf plug or a standard 280zx plug) I wonder whether these digital dashes were a fore runner to the "Star wars" dashes as seen in the Z31? If so maybe they share some wiring / plugs? I had bought it with the idea to make the swap but in the end I decided it wasn't worth risking a working dash. Quote
bullzed Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 Hmmm fair enough. I've just had a look around and it seems you need the pigtail wiring which runs behind the dash to the main cluster in order to swap. Most people do it the opposite way, from digital to analogue, hooray for backwards engineering hey? Also they all have to pull their dash in order to do the wiring swap. Nothing ventured, nothing gained though! When are you available for pick up? I have someone coming around today to check out my 260z valance and bumper but any other day would suffice! Quote
. Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Tomorow (Wednesday), Friday or either day this weekend would be fine. Quote
bullzed Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 Saturday would be great! You wouldn't happen to have any different shifter knobs would you? Quote
bullzed Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 No probs! I'll see you Saturday! Quote
