Would warn lash pads cause knocking noise?

Hi guys,

 

I've had this slowly come up on my motor.......it use to happen only slightly but aftera  few track days it's definately louder.

 

I get this loose knocking sound from the motor between 2,000revs - 4,000revs only when I'm accelerating. Under those revs it's not there.........and above it's not there unless the car gets too loud for me to hear it.

 

Theres been no loss in power or anything like that. I previously thought it was a loose timing chain so I changed that. And after the change car drove sweet but still made the knocking noise.

 

Cars being sanded down and semi stripped this week for full respray in a fornight...........woohooo..........paint had faded pretty badly in these last few months with hotter weather.
