jk240z Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 HEY GUYS Just after some feedback on my 240z ex race car.. should i remove the bracing thats been welded all over the front of it, it's really stiff and im not sure how it would affect me registering her... any advice would be great... Quote
620Z Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Leave it there if you can get it registered like that. The top one looks like it is removable. But Zeds are natorious for having a lot of movement at the front because of the long nose. So that would go a long way to fixing it if you were planning on doing some reasonable driving. Quote
24OZ Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 looks like someone went to a bit of effort putting that bracing in,i don't see how it would affect registration unless it is fouling anywhere.....some states have a minimum clearance of 20mm rule in this regard, check on DOTARS website Quote
Scando Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 I agree, if it'll pass rego then leave it in there. Great way of stiffening up the big engine bay in the Z. Quote

Thanks guys The car also has a half roll cage and a rear brace over the strut towers, bracing down to the floor off the strut towers also.. i think it is going to be a real pain in the ass on the road. thehelix112 Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Why would it be a pain in the arse? Its not absolutely nothing to do with how the car feels over bumps, thats handled by the springs/shocks. What it does have to do with is how the loads transmitted to the chassis affect it. Soggy chassis = soggy response. A stiff chassis is a good thing. OEMs go to massive lengths to get their chassis stiff, it improves everything about the car. Fewer squeaks from the body bending/flexing for example. Leave it. Whoever did it looks like they knew what they were doing. Or atleast knew that its a good idea to reinforce the sway bar mounts in the chassis rails. Dave Quote
620Z Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 I agree. You wouldn't beleive how much a Zed body flex's even from normal driving on the road. Count yourself lucky some hard work has been done. Quote
