Help removing windscreen wiper linkages on 280zx

I know there is probably something easy I'm missing but I can't seem to get the windscreen wiper linkages on my 280zx off.

I'm stuck with getting the two shafts that poke through (ones for the wiper arms to connect to) to go back into the channel that runs under the windscreen where all the linkages are. There's what looks like a nut on these shafts and I've tried undoing it but it just seems to spin and not come off.

Anyone familiar with how these come apart?

That nut has to be removed, I just pulled mine out a minute ago. Is is just the nut thats spinning or is the thread it's attached to spinning as well? The two different sized threads aren't attached so you'll have to look at the larger thread to find out whats going on. The larger thread has a couple of tabs on it to lock it in place so it might be a idea to look at that

Thanks for the help.. Yeah I wasn't sure if that nut should just undo and come all the way off. When I turn it the thread isn't turning as well and it just seems to be spinning and not coming off. Do you know if that rubber bush directly under the nut is suppose to be connected to it? When I turn the nut that runner bush is spinning as well and I wasn't too game on just clamping it in case they were suppose to be attached.

Also sorry for the crappy picture.. only just realised how small it is when I uploaded it :/

Thanks for the help guys. finally got around to it and got it off last night.. it ended up being that the tabs which are supposed to stop the shaft spinning had pulled through and were in fact letting the shaft spin. Don't know how I didn't see that the first time!
