ZD44TT Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Hey guys, I'm doing my timing chain today and am stuck with how to get the crank pulley nut off. Have tried heaps of WD40 and even putting it in gear but can't seemt be able to give it enough force to loosen the nut. I've got no access to air tools. I can't seem to find anywhere on the head to leverage to I can apply a decent amount of force to the crank nut. Any ideas? Thanks. Quote
ZD44TT Posted September 10, 2007 Author Posted September 10, 2007 woops posted too soon......... waited for the WD40 to set it and gave the it a tap with the hammer and it came off.......... yay! : ) Quote
Zeddophile Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Just for future reference, the best trick is to see which way the engine spins, then rest the end of a breaker bar on something solid (frame rail), and give the engine a flick over so that the bar is held by the frame rail, and the nut gets undone by the starter motor. Gotta make sure to disconnect the coil first though, and think three times about which way it needs to go to be undone! Quote
