As long as it's for a 2+2, I'm sure it'll fit (I don't know if the targa tops changed with the longer car, so I'm playing it safe). If no one has any available in maroon, I'm more than happy to take the blue and attempt to swap the trim over.

Hey All, It's been a while but I'm still after the glass drivers side targa top for a 1982 280ZX 2+2 Series 2. Even better if it's got the maroon trim to match the interior. Unfortunately mine came with a crack and the car is no longer under cover so I want to get it replaced before the winter rain kicks in. Thanks, Swiftless

Sorry for the late response guys. Ended up booking it into the mechanic as I didn't want to take my daily driver out of action while I play around! If anyone is wondering, turns out the headlight switch was messing up and there was also quite a bit of corrosion on the wires. However... They managed to mess up the electrics even more. Front and rear water now only spray when they want, interior lights sometimes turn off and I have to tap the steering column to bump them back on, the system check never performs when then car is first started, etc. Got it back in worse condition than I gave it to them and had to take it back to get it fixed up again. Never going back to them! Cheers, Swiftless

Pauly - Cheers. I was expecting more to be involved in the turbocharging of the l28. RBZ 260 - That's exactly the type of information I was after, thanks! I'll definitely check with Regency, but this gives me a major starting point.

Paul - Thanks, I'll see what they say! zzzzed - It was Barry who I received my initial response from, he sounded like he didn't want anything to do with the engine turbo/swap, but said he could help in other areas such as suspension. I'll see if I can get in contact with him again, he never replied to my second email. It's good to know that there are other 280ZX's in SA that have had upgrades. Thanks!

Hi, There's one place here in Adelaide that 'specializes' in Z cars and they haven't been able to help me in the slightest, hoping someone here can. Running the original L28 (reconditioned ~75,000km ago) in my 280ZX, but I want to either give it a turbo which was a foreign option, or do an engine swap. I see the RB engines are quite popular. Has anyone in SA done either of these and can direct me somewhere/give me some advice? I was told a turbo upgrade wasn't possible because they weren't released here in Aus and that due to expenses/legalities (they wouldn't elaborate), they didn't recommend an engine swap. This is my daily driver, so I want to keep it street legal and don't have any outrageous plans, just that little extra oomf and I don't mind importing the parts required or forking out for the cost of a swap. I'm in need of a new gearbox and instead of getting the current one reconditioned and possibly wasting money, I wanted to find out about this first as I'm pretty sure I'd need a new gearbox for either option anyway. Thanks, Donald

Cheers, I'll take a look at the suspension check, that is surprisingly cheap!

Hey guys, I got my 280zx not too long back and she is nowhere near the smoothest of rides and also shakes a bit going over bumps in the road. I'm looking for some new springs, shocks and anything else recommended to be replaced and was wondering if anyone knew something they would recommend? I am after a standard height, I don't want to lower it and I'm not after anything pricey, I'd just like a nice smooth ride like my more modern cars. On a side note, I've done bits and pieces on another car of mine but never with the suspension. Would people recommend giving it a go myself or taking it to a mechanic? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response. Definitely a good suggestion to have. Unfortunately the fuses aren't the issue, which I was hoping it would be to keep things simple :/ The head lamps run off of the same fuse as the park and dash lights and the head lamps still work, plus I can hear the relay literally click on and I've tried replacing the fuses to double check. Thanks, Donald

Hey guys, Just the other night my dash and park lights decided to stop working. They were going fine, then I stopped the car, went away for 5 minutes and when I came back and turned on my headlights, I noticed that I didn't have any dash lights. I've checked all my fuses and they are fine. This may or may not be related, but my horn also doesn't work. The relays for the horn and lights all click on when I turn them on and the headlights and stop lights are fine. The park lights and I'm guessing also the dash lights appear to run off of the same fuse which I've also tried replacing (I take out that fuse and the relay no longer clicks on). I don't suppose anyone has had a similar issue or knows where I should start looking? I can't say I know too much about electrics. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, the photo doesn't show the rust, she looks like a little bit of a mess in real life, hopefully not for much longer! Oh, I just realized the button I pressed is the "Send Email" icon under your username. It might be in there. Thanks, Swiftless

Hey guys, Thanks for the welcome! I've set my avatar image to begin with, and if I'm using this right, I'm adding a larger version as an attachment. I'll put up some more images when I get some time. Quandary, I've sent you a message

Hey Everyone, Just a couple of months back I managed to find a 1982 280ZX for sale and seeing as though I was looking for a smaller runabout car I just couldn't say no, it was love at first sight! Although I'm fully aware that it doesn't use fuel like a little runabout I'll try to get some pictures up at some stage, she's in need of quite a bit of TLC. Mechanically she is doing pretty good although either the clutch or gearbox need to be replaced, but physically she's got quite a bit of rust here and there and one of the targa tops is cracked. But I'm planning to get her stripped and get the rust cut, followed by a fresh coat of paint (probably from the current white to black) sometime within the next 6 months. I may end up scouring the forum for parts here and there, they aren't too common here in Adelaide for some reason. She's the non-turbo model, and is electronically the most impressive car I've owned, I'm still impressed that it can tell me if a headlight or brakelight is out! I am looking forward to driving her for years to come and eventually getting her to like-new condition. Cheers, Swiftless
