  1. I am trying to complete my 1982 280ZX series 2 and need the bags the targa tops go in when being stored in the back and also both targa top interior screens which keep the sun out and clip in to the underside of the targa tops. The interior is blue/grey. Can anyone help with these parts?

    Many thanks, Chris.

  2. I have a series 2 280ZX which I am gradually fixing up.

I would like to buy the inserts which go inside the Targa roof sections to suit a grey/blue interior.

I also need the grey plastic insert which goes behind the drivers side interior door handle.

    Can anyone help?

    Chris.

  3. The insert which surrounds the inside door handle appears to be all one piece held in by one screw.  Mine is broken and only half of it remains. Maybe if I can get the other bits I can glue together a complete unit?

As far as getting the parts to me  am in Merino VIC only about 80kms from the SA border and have a friend who lives on Hindmarsh Island who I will see next week - Maybe if the parts went to him he could bring them to me or....simply use a courier service and charge me the courier cost.  Whatever is easiest for you. My email is chrisriches@exemail.com.au if you prefer to deal outside of this website.

    Chris.

  4. Many thanks to everyone who has taken the trouble to help me. I have decided to put the bypass valve back in and will need to buy one from somewhere. Anyone got any ideas or maybe even one for sale??

    Many thanks. Chris.

  5. Have found a light tapered spring on the floor but no sign of a steel ball. Would prefer to have the bypass working as the reason it is being rebuilt is because it ran a big end in a motor which was otherwise in good nick and the engineer stated that this could have caused by dirty oil. Maybe the steel ball was missing all along after earlier work on the motor??

  6. The engine has been laid down. transported, been in a cleaning bath and generally moved about and now the engineer says it is not there. I guess it must have fallen out. Any idea where I can buy another one??

    Thanks again,

    Chris

  7. Many thanks for the replies. Don't know what a sandwich plate is.  The mount just bolts to the block with four bolts and a gasket. What does the bypass valve in the block look like? Maybe it has dropped out while the block was being bored etc?

  8. I am currently rebuilding my L28 engine from my series 2 280zx and my engineer seems to think there should be a bypass valve of some sort in the oil filter mount but there is none. The workshop manual shows a differnt type to the one fitted to mine which is a plain right angle mount with no valve

Can anyone tell me if they changed the oil filter mount from series one to series two and whether there is anything unusual about the bypass mechanism is the oil filter setups on these engines.

    Many thanks.

    Chris Riches.
