curtis 240z reacted to George in Looking For A Reference 1970 240Z In South Sydney
    Hi all,

I'm hoping to find a 1970 240Z in original condition local to me (St George/Southerland area of Sydney) and an owner willing to let me pop in occasionally to take some pics and have a chat.

It will be an invaluable help as I'm working through assembly.

Alternately, someone that can take some photos of this and that would also be an immense help.

Please contact me via private message if you can help.

    Cheers

I have recently acquired my late fathers 240Z HS30- 32# from memory, cant remember the last number.
I restored this with my father in 2000, unfortunately for the last 5 years it has been sitting in a less then ideal location and time has taken its toll on the body.

The good news is the engine numbers match the body plates and it has the original E31 head. Has the vents in the tail gate, no too boxes etc. a true early girl.

Interior is mostly complete, i think the grill is missing from the exterior.

Basically i am looking for someone to make me an offer that will break my sentimental ties to it.

If anyone is interested in am located about an hour and half north west of Brisbane.
I am able to take any photos you like and discuss over the phone for serious buyers.

If anyone is interested please send me an email warklor@gmail.com

So this ones been in the pipeline for a while, it's an original two owner car and originated down near Albury way and lived there all of it's life until now. All complete and matching numbers and still retains the e31 head and radio. My plans are to get the paint tidied up along with the interior which is a bit shabby but all original and drive this one for a while, overall its a pretty cool original old car

It sure was, overall it's pretty original and has got virtually no rust in the body and i would say 75% of the paint is original and doesn't appear to have been involved in any major accidents. Fabio and his Wife bought it of the original owner, drove it up and down the road every so often then it got parked in the shed, I'm guessing from the service sticker its been of the road since around 1991.

For sale we have two early 240z's, i'm selling on behalf of a friend who has changed direction with what he is keeping. Both cars are in need of a full restoration inside and out. Both cars are matching numbers and do run.

Car 1 - $25,000 - Original Red matching numbers car in the late #297 - All original but does need extensive rust work done to bring it back to it's former glory. The car is all complete and does run and drive but only for transport reasons.

Car 2- open to negotiation - Originally Green and numbered in the early #2## - Matching numbers and reasonable for the age, is mostly complete but needs a full restoration to do it justice and is not to bad for rust considering it is an early car. the engine does run but the car does not drive currently.

Unfortunately I don't have any current photos, only the one photo of #297 with the silver bonnet. I will try to get some in the next week. If you are genuine please feel free to contact me on 0423 660 281, I do stress both these cars are FULL restoration projects and you wont have them on the road in a weekend.

    Hi all

    Its Youhan from Sydney

I have been meaning to do a new member introduction over the past month or so but I thought I would get myself updated on some of the knowledge on this forum before I go asking questions. I'm sure there are a few forum members who were sussing me out but I understand that there are a lot of scammers and non helpful people out there who just want to waste peoples time. Honestly in saying that I found the content on this forum really informative and backed with extensive knowledge of the early Z'ds, keep up the good work. From my external view of this forum I find that people are willing to go out of their way to help a member and to see another great Z'd on the road or on a race track.

So just a little about my 1973 240z (not matching number) that I purchased from Curtis a probably two months back, some of you may have seen it on FleeBay. Basically I was looking to purchase a 240 back 5 years ago and I was on a hunt to find a clean project but I was having trouble finding a good example. One day I came across a Toyota Celica RA23 for sale and it side tracked my search and I remembered when I wanted to buy one when I was on my learners so I regretfully purchased it (picture below). Basically I did a SR20DET conversion from a S15 and a S14 5SPD, Borgwarner diff from a VN SS including front and rear disc conversion. This car was a beast at 200atwkw but body has rust in the usual places and after driving it hard the passenger door would not open until the chassis settled lol. Soooo I sold it with no regret to fund the sky rocketing prices of the 240z's.

So currently my plans are to undertake a manual conversion and get rid of that nasty auto gearbox. Also I would like to get the body restored removing the fibreglass flairs and insert the original fender arches and keeping it the same colour. I would really love to stay true to the L series engine as I have been there and done that with other cars with different engines but I would love a storker L28 from Les Collins or PMC engines later down the track.

Anyways lets see how we go but my main focus is getting the body restored first as I don't want to make the same mistake a second time by thinking emotionally.

Looking forward to working on this great car and getting it into great shape, I'm a little tempted to paint it in the 918 Orange but still not sure on this. ALso looking forward to meeting like minded enthusiasts on this forum and events.

If anyone knows the history of this car would love to hear from you.

    Cheers,

    Youhan with a silent U

curtis 240z reacted to gav240z in Lhd 240Z Question
If I couldn't find a good S30z locally in RHD I'd have no hesitation buying a LHD example to drive over here.

I'm not sure why others find it such a deterrent? In a weekend car in my opinion it's hardly a big deal. I wouldn't even bother doing conversion or if I was going to I'd do it over a long period of time. Collect all the parts I need and when ready and saved the coin convert.

Only problem is finding a good example in the US at a reasonable price. Then shipping etc.. basically means you're better off starting with RHD if you can find 1.

But if I wanted an early early 240z I'd look in the US since options here are limited by these greedy collectors with more than 1 .

I haven't started a thread on this car as we've been busy with other projects. Here are some up to date photos of ow it looks now and some of the other cars we own.
    car 1 #295
car 2 #297 with silver bonnet - undergoing restoration
    car 3 #1313

we've also got #340 which I will upload some photos when I see the panel beaters next, it was similar to George's car but has been slowly transformed back into something respectable (after a solid 5 moths and alot of money) and will be going back to a stock car with it's original engine.

A friend of mine bought a c10 GTR replica mid last year, over all its a relatively tidy car but as said it has had rust repairs at some stage and they were on the rough side, in saying that we are fastidious with rust and maintenance. Buy the time the car was landed and registered it owed around 80k. Its had mods done like most of them and has had some engine work. What we understand is this was a fair price given the condition of the car and what the improvements were and yes it is hard to find an honest example as most have had a Mexican restoration. As a few of us have being saying for over 12 months how the Z car prices are rising, the c10 has risen faster as I remember Phil Lee advertising a tidy c10 GTR replica for 45k roughly 5 years ago, that same car would probably retail for around 90k now!

Well after a few phone discussions and a quick trip last night 10 minutes from home, I bought this very original 1973 240z of the second owner who purchased the car in 1976. It was a bit of a mission to get the car out as it hadn't been moved in 10 months but after a bit of lifting and moving stuff around we got it out, and surprisingly it was still registered as well. The car is in very original condition with the original carpets, radio and is all matching numbers. With a good tidy up it should come up really well.

The safari gold one above Gav is hs30 #1254. Unfortunately the previous owner who was the second owner parked it in 1989 in the front yard where it sat till around 2007 and it was rotted from the inside out, how ever most of the parts for this car went to build up #379 of memory a few years back.
