    My First Z

Good Evening, Julian here from Melbourne. After years of day dreaming, searching the classifieds daily, admiring my brother & sister in-law's 240z, I finally got my hands on a 240z project of my own! I came across the project via my cousin. 3 years ago he randomly started to talk to a guy at the local IGA, and they got onto the topic of old cars and the few Datsuns he had in his shed. There was a particular 1600 that my cousin was interested in. The guy didn't want to sell. He also had this 240z partially restored under covers. After 3 years of asking him every time they bumped into each other, he finally agreed to sell. My cousin purchased the 1600 about two months ago, and also inquired about the 240z on my behalf. Fast forward two months, a safe journey home, the car is safe in my garage and i cant stop smiling. My plans are to restore her relatively stock, other than wheels, spoiler and front splitter. I look forward to sharing my build (hopefully absorb as much advice/ knowledge) with the Z Community. Cheers,

    Sump stiffing plates.

Already seen one engine stuffed using "MODERN" sealants. Bits of silicon break off inside and block oil galleys. Have got a new cork gasket from SWM and install correctly should do the trick. Poor quality gaskets don't work really good in the long run. A dollar saved is ten lost in the long run. Should be able to make some when I can get out and get some steel.

I have one side Gav but lost the back and straight side bit. Have an annoying oil leak that wont go away. Put a pic up on the FB page.

New Door Cards I decided to make my own new door cards. I removed the original Masonite off the top metal section and replaced with new Masonite. then covered the entire card with black vinyl. The old armrests I had were toast so I replaced one end with a webbing pull and inserted a bolt into the other end that helps hold the card in place but can be used to secure an armrest later. I used the fluffy side of Velcro to replace the window runner section along the length of the door card top. It was a bit of stuffing around but they look the part. Not perfectly original but period.
