C.A.R. Posted June 9, 2012 Author Share Posted June 9, 2012 Progress has been steady with the Escort with Alex buying lots of new replacement/upgraded parts: Custom Ordered 13x7 Minilites. The Engine has gone back to Peter Mc for further modifications - more head porting & an increase in compression. The Bike carbs really didn't work - only making a bit over 120hp, so some 45mm Weber's have been ordered from 'Weber Performance' in Mordialloc. Although I'm in Queensland, one of the best things I done to my garage was to insulate and line the whole thing. Makes a HUGE difference to the temperature and also cuts down the outside noise. peter mc Posted June 11, 2012 Share Posted June 11, 2012 Yes we got the carbs perfect , very easy to tune but at 125 hp there past there best so we went to 45mm Weber's the 600 carbs were very smooth but rejected lots of fuel at 5000+ rpm , the length of the manifold was to short for the job , and as we are after 150+hp we needed more air and Les deemed the head and carbs needed more work so i have ported the head again and had the head stud do the guides and seats , and i fitted new springs so we could rev it to 8k and Alax has got new 45 carbs and manifold Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

C.A.R. Posted August 1, 2012 Author Share Posted August 1, 2012 Since you asked so nicely Chris Diff is in & we are looking at finalizing the panhard rod mounting soon. Wheels on. We now need to tip & roll the arches back, as well as get the porta-power out to move the arches out some 30mm, so the tyres will clear. Type 9 5-speed: Tunnel cap removed to make room for the larger T9 box. I've since cut the tunnel further back & re-plated the tunnel brace. We've since found the works style headers fowl the engine crossmember. Upon asking Burton in the UK, they informed us we need to use a 'World Cup' crossmember - but nothing was mentioned about then when the headers were ordered! Getting there slowly though.
