Wheels Options In Australia

Auszcar members, Wheels are hard to find for your Zeds (cause of the offset ,etc )

So if you guys know of suppilers that carry wheels in Australia can you post the pictures,

website address & links here. And also price range. And maybe what other cars wheels fit zeds for eg AE86 corolla and so on.

Try to keep this thread clear of chatter and non related ideas. Maybe Webmaster might make this a sticky.

Simmons Wheels are worth a try but at around $700 a corner, its a tad pricey. If the Rota's were a few months earlier, I would've gone for those! Good thing about the Simmons wheels is they measure up to get everything to fit. They check clearance of the brakes, struts etc. Also, rim size is all up to you! I went through Richmond Mag Wheel Center in Melbourne. They also stock forged BBS wheels for approx $5000 a set.

:) Most wheels these days have a +40 offset or there abouts.

So by the Datsun 240z factory manual the factory offset is +15 (most people say +0 offset)

So if you add 25mm wheel spacers to make it +40 it will open the range of wheels available

Most drift cars use them, and i,ve read more positive then negative things about spacers

The thing people say is too keep them tight (loctite) alot of Americans used them with no problems.

Wheel spacers are priced around $240 for a set of 4, but make sure the inner ID is 73mm for the fronts

p.s if anyone has spacers out there for sale let me know (future project)

For those with road cars the main problem is that spacers are illegal. For track not a problem, but personally I'm not a fanof spacers, I got siMMons made for me 18x8" and will fit nicely for what I need to run slicks without flares, though the guards have been massaged to fit the wheels, but still at  a -3mm offset

I used them for a while. Front wheel got loose although I took them on and off that many times I just could'nt be sure that it was my haste to get the car off the jack. However it was enough for me to say pay a bit extra and get the right wheels. I've heard they use em alot on Porsches to fill out wider "930 look" gaurds but thats as far as my research goes as one bad experience was enough for me.

;D Hi guys brought a set of Rota Grids of Benzed

    They are 16" x 8" with a +10 offset

You have to use a 5mm slip on spacer on the front hubs

    I'm running Maxxis MA-Z1 tyres

    Front 205/55/16

    Rear  225/50/16

;) Done a trail fittment on George's car to see how they look (comments) ;)

And how do George's 18" look on my car

you can machine them to fit without a spacer. you're only talking about a small shave.

I'll bite. If you could tell me what sort of machining would be involved that would be great. I thought the spacer places the wheel further out. ?? I dont think i will EVER understand offset and other interesting things !

the spacer places the wheels out yes. don't worry about that.

the problem with the front wheels is about 4mm. all it would take is a 45 degree shave of about 3-4mm on the inside edge of the wheel. i could try drawing something for you if you're really keen to get them.

ok i understand now. You are effectively enlarging the diameter of the wheel by doing that.

My choice is between these grids , RB ®'s and possibly any other old school japanese wheels that benzed might get in. ( love the gold mesh volk looking ones he has on otomoto.com.au but he has them only as a pair )

Thanks for the heads up.
