You guys may have seen it for sale on carsales - the yellow one in Turramurra. I bought it from a guy named Michael who said he was a member of the forum (probably Sydney section) but maybe one of you may have met him or have seen the car around? Anyway, just a quick hello to everyone. Hopefully I'm picking her up on Saturday, so I'll be keen to join you all on the next meet if that's okay? Cheers! Surly_Z Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 She was enough, ha ha. I ended up needing a loan, put it that way! Full resto 6years ago, no rust, great paint and interior (usual cracked dash), engine nice and strong with rebuilt carbies. So she'll be nice and strong for a few years yet (touch wood). I'd love to meet up with you guys soon and check out all the Z's. How many members do we have in ACT? Anyone you know want a Z31? No I have this, I should probably sell my other toy! Quote

ACT has a good number of cars, we had 5 last time, but if Allen and Dave get off their butts and get their zeds back on the road, we will be getting more zeds than other states at meets. As for Marque in the Park, I have the contacts for the people running the show, its possible that if we have enough interest, we can get our own small location to show off. Otherwise, I can chat to the Skylines Australia guys and we could tag on to the end of them in our own small group? I'll start another thread. Cheers Scott Quote

Welcome to the z owners mate . its kinda like heaven only with speed limits . Your car looks good. Yella works well. Have to see it in person though. The dash cracking isn't unusual. So what part of Canberra you from. We should do a meet up again. I got my licence back. So now I may be able to come lol. Off my but hey. I will be spending all of today in the spray booth. OK just on the pocket rocket instead lol. Then the 280 can go into the workshop. More work then we thought on the 280 though from the work i did last week and what we found. well catch ya latter's I'm gonna go pick up a spray gun. Quote
Surly_Z Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 Overall she's in pretty good nick. It's my first 240z and only my second experience with the L series engine. I've been driving a Z31 around for the last two years, which was fun, but felt I needed and even older car! Yellow works well with the black interior and dark wheels. Checking the rear boot found out it was originally burnt orange/red. Also found a bit of surface rust, so that will be job number 1 on the list I think. I pick her up Saturday lunch, then driving back through Wollongong, Bowral, Moss Vale and back to ACT - should be a nice little drive! So I'm pretty much free the next coming weekends if you guys wanna meet up? Maybe a little cruise through the cotter or something? Quote
Mr240z Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Hay josh its me again ,mate mine was burnt orange aswell now the same colour as youe 240z Mate got to meet up and compare notes ,I,ve had mine for about 15 years now . got it when i was about 20 took 8 years to get on the road ,when i find her she was in a garage from the rego label 1985 .was in pretty good nick painted it 1969 holden chrome yellow. I lost my drivers lc for 5 years and zed went to shit just give up ,Now back throwing $$$ back into her so soon she will look nice again cheers mr240z pauly Quote

Hopefully most of the expensive and hard work has been done and things won't get too out of hand! But I realise this is never the case, haha. As for notes, I'm brand new to the 240 so it will be a learning curve! So far all I know is full resto (not rotisserie) 6 years ago, and by the looks of it a full rebuilt L28 as well. I'll be happy to meet up at the next Sydney cruise, I'll keep my eyes and calendar open for next event! Quote

Surly_Z Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 My new 240Z is now living in my garage! What an awesome car. It was a great drive back from Sydney on Saturday - drove down through Moss Vale, Bowral and some hilly roads around there. She was a little rough to start with, the previous owner had some bad fuel and loose spark leads which lead to some horrible noises. A quick sevice at home Sunday with new oil, spitfire, and premium fuel and all roughness has gone. I'm looking forward to Marques In The Park, it'd be great to meet some local Z owners! Anyone keen for a small meet before then? Maybe down the cotter or somewhere? Quote
