Australian compliance marks in engine bay?

So something I have noticed in my 71 240z is these black sharpie marks in the engine bay. I had seen it once before on another car. HS30 00004 refer to red engine bay.

Has anyone seen this on other AU market cars at all?

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the import / compliance process?

I ran it by Alan @HS30-H but he had never seen it before, so that's why we think it could be AU compliance specific.

Very interesting.. can't be too many other Z's out there with original paint in the engine bay still. So I wonder if anyone else has seen this?

A friend of mine met a fella who owns #151 and it got me looking at the car again and I noted the engine bay had same markings.

Still don't know what they signify.

Found these on another very original 240z (73 model 901 silver with red interior).

Compliance plate has the same no. on it. So this leads me to believe they must have been some kind of compliance process mark or sequence.

The example above had the no. 66626.

This is from my 71 HS30 01415.

I couldn't make out the text before, but assume it was the same as the example above. 5080 or 5089 or even 50895 but the relays (non original added to the starter motor wiring) are covering the last digit.

It appears to be. Most likely is the number of the form that they take down the details of the car and then write the form number on the car and the compliance plate (away from the area to be stamped). The plate is then stamped with the ADR info and car details (from the form) and then the plate is returned to the the car with the matching marker pen number.
