With any luck we should have professional photos soon, which will hopefully wet everybody’s beak. We just have to wait for the carpet (it’s running late) and a few other misc parts to arrive from the states. After that we should be just about there.

I've seen this in the flesh and you have my approval for colour choice :)

Thanks mate. I spent a lot of time pondering colour, constantly changing, what’s safe vs what sort of 240z I want.
One piece of advice was given to me by a few people who have done many cars ‘so many people have a great colour in mind then change at the last minute and regret it when it’s done. Stick with your original colour and pick your favorite shade of it’.

….so that’s exactly what I did.

Ordered a new rear hatch windscreen as my current one had louvre rub marks etched into the glass. Should look really clean and clear with new front and rear windscreens and brand new mirrors everywhere.

now I just need to track down new carpets. I ordered new carpets from all car carpets in Melbourne and they have gone quiet and are not returning any calls and are now 6 weeks overdue from their maximum timeframe parameter they gave me when ordering. And by reading the google reviews…I’m not the only one.

Surprised you did not contact Rob at the Z Factory (Seaford, Melbourne) for the carpets as he probably has what you are after.

You silly bugger Jon - why didn't you call Rob in the first place?!...................................................................

If you have the original carpets then you just take them to an auto trimmer and he will make new replica ones for you. You don't need to go to some specialist auto carpet supplier. ::)

Particularly when Nissan made several running changes to the floors so the pattern that the specialist auto carpet supplier has to hand may not quite suit your particular car. Which is what all the griping was about originally with the above mentioned company, and long lead times.

What is it with carpet companies? Wasn't there some Aussie Carpets company that everyone keeps dropping in here to complain about? hah.

Seems like carpets are hard to make?

The all car carpets google reviews says it all.

Z carpets take 2…I just spoke to Rob at z factory and he has some carpets for me. Let’s see if we can get this last piece in place. Once they arrive, then my new rear windscreen, we are pretty much home and hosed.

Small amount of parts from the US are also needed, which I'm ordering shortly.
Still on the list is fit the carpet & underlay, fit & wire in the radio, fit a kill switch, wheel alignment and corner weight it, book it in to LCR for a road tune, then I'll drive it for a week or so to PD it.

In their defense they did the carpets for my car and actually delivered the product. I can't say they were right the first time but they fixed it when asked. I think they are just very busy.

  • 3 weeks later...

90% of the interior is in - just the seats and seatbelts to go.
Fitting the Inertia reels is interesting...

I'm waiting on the S/S windscreen trims to come back from being repaired (stone strikes) and polished,
then the new F&R screens can go in.

Radio install is next, then the wheel alignment & corner weighting can happen followed buy the LCR road tune...

When we dissembled the Z, I didn't take any notice of the windscreen wiper arms.
I got them out of the box before to refit them with new refills and was delighted to see they were the original 'Twin Spars'.
However some sharp object had decided to paint them in matt black - and this will not do.

So onto the polishing mop with them and I've buffed the paint off and polished the stainless to a nice shine,
so as to blind Wags from the reflection when he drives it.
One down, one to go...
