Enzo
I had a day off work today so the front panels and bonnet went back on the car and I hit the road to the office for cheesecake and coffee. The new ignition system ( MSD6AL and Hot Spark)is great and the engine is crisp. The brakes need work. From sitting so long, I may have a seized caliper piston or two. Scared myself at the first traffic lights. Over the weekend I will have to look at them. I'm pretty stoked though since I haven't had the car on the street for about 3 years. With the Covid-19 lockdowns and cutting back hours at work, I am enjoying working on the car again. Ok guys, Stay safe and remember you don't have to stay 1.5 metres away from your Datsun. 24 Dat
Had a good morning, with our restrictions being slightly lifted in Qld, i got 3 of the girl's out and took them for a quick run for fuel and checking tyres etc, that's about all we can do atm up here. Looking forward to being able to do more in the coming months, we all just need to keep our distance and wash our hands and do all the things they asking us to do and remain patience, i would rather have a couple of extra weeks of restrictions so that we can be sure we are totally onto of this rather than have it all fall over and we have to start again Nice to get them out of storage as they haven't been touched for months, the wonderful sound and Power of a L6 in a Zed and yes i'm still smiling gilltech, GregTas, OdinZ and 3 others

24 Dat
Hi @Linton thanks, When i got my green car repainted back in 09 I had always loved the colour of the Racing KPC-110 GTR Skylines especially the green version see below. I had seen somewhere it was called Nissan Racing Green Metallic. I couldn't find a code for it and i asked my great painter to see what he could come up with, he produced a colour pot sample to as close to the photos i had shown him on the KPC cars , i didn't need to see it sprayed out, i knew on the spot that was the colour i wanted, even though i don't think it is exactly the same as the GTR https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nissan-global.com%2FEN%2FHERITAGE%2F067_skyline_2000gt-r.html&psig=AOvVaw0LqgjawKQSEkaO1r88h_9v&ust=1588483631576000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CAIQjRxqFwoTCLiA_ea4lOkCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAD Edited May 2, 2020 by 24 Dat
Administrators gav240z Posted May 7, 2020 Administrators Share Posted May 7, 2020 I haven't done it yet, but I've been halfway through this since I left Sydney and want to get back to it. Thought a tutorial may help me get stuck back into it. https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44331-diy-how-to-recover-your-z-seats-lots-of-pictures/ So I'm bookmarking it here, I didn't want to buy the US foam kits as they are expensive when you factor in shipping and my seat cover material isn't OEM to warrant going all out this time (I'm working on seats for my 72 and not fussed about having it "perfect" at this stage. I also want to reupholster the blue seats in the 71 since the material is split, but wary about removing it and being unable to put it back on! Seat strapping here: (early seats have webbing, later ones have the metal springs beneath instead). https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30582-240z-seat-strapping/ cracker and theremm 1

Don't want to force things and damage it. But the motor works, but the nylon cord wouldn't budge because of all the crud and rust and stuff in the body was causing things to fuse together. I suspect this is why most of them fail to work. I have another arrow tip antenna I'll be tackling after this 1. Ponyo240z
gilltech
In my experience, twice now, the nylon cord has sheared off up inside the top tip of the metal concertina aerial. No show of fixing that I don't think. And the modern ones are wired differently, as an informative thread on this forum described sometime late last year IIRC. gilltech
Interesting. With both of mine there was a stump of the cord left in place and no way that I could see of accessing it. But you've encouraged me to look at it again.

I disassembled an AM radio a while ago that was damaged in transit (seller only put it in a cardboard box and the chassis took a good hard beating on the way over from Europe). Whipped the PCB off a corner. Which I repaired. To remove the chassis from the circuit board you have to de-solder a few points (sadly). Which makes this tricky and time consuming.. Video of it working here. https://photos.app.goo.gl/VonPvkZ95MR1McA46 I still need to find the RF Choke which goes in the fuse holder, order a new fuse holder assembly and OEM plug (http://www.vintageconnections.com/Products/Detail/66) and re-apply the model sticker/decal. Greg Hassen I believe made reproduction labels here. https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/53334-wtb-hitachi-radio/?do=findComment&comment=502985 Condition of radio before. After... If there is interest in creating a step by step guide on how to disassemble these and re-assemble let me know? I have more radios to restore... I'd be interested. I have one in desperate need of attention

Administrators gav240z Posted July 12, 2020 Administrators Share Posted July 12, 2020 Since it's lockdown in Victoria. I decided to do a long overdue job. Valve clearance adjustment on the white 71. They were nearly all too tight. Exception of 1 or 2 valves. I did them cold, because doing them hot is tricky because them motor can cool down quickly. I also had a hell of a time getting #4 exhaust but undone. Since it has limited room for adjustment and you don't wanna bust ya knuckles on the sharp edge of the engine head. The benefit though is the engine sounds much nicer and quieter. For those doing it. Intake is 0.20mm clearance. Exhaust 0.25mm. Turning top nut anti clockwise will tighten the gap, turning it clockwise with open the gap. I used cardboard to check off the valves as I did them and turned the motor from the cam sprocket (with plugs out). Ponyo240z
Restored my brothers wheel over the weekend. This is the 5th or 6th one I have done, each time getting better. I used a stainless steel wool ball to clean up the wood part, not sand paper which could get rid of the texture of the grain in I went overboard. I used floorboard polish to seal, Only 1 coat to keep the texture. I have done with 2 before, however I prefer a little texture.
