Administrators gav240z Posted November 13, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 13, 2016 Hi Everyone, Just wondering if anyone has a single Triple Mikuni 44 carb body (Type 5). Same as the photo. You can identify them by the cover which has 5 screws holding it on. I've got 2 (as pictured) but need 1 more to make a complete set. dat2kman
They usually turn up as pairs, off other 4 cyl cars! I have a pair! 1 would be useless, unless another 6cyl guy has a pair also!
dat2kman
Same with the insulators for these! I have four NOS, and 1 used but vgc!
Administrators gav240z Posted November 13, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted November 13, 2016 Jason if you want to sell another pair of 44 Type 5s can you PM me a price? I can always try and find another pair after that to make 2 sets of 3.
Zedhead70
Hi Gav, Sorry to disappoint, I remembered I had a spare pair and just had a rummage in the shed, they are only 40's. let me know if they are of any use. Regards Craig
Administrators gav240z Posted December 3, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted December 3, 2016 Hi Gav, Sorry to disappoint, I remembered I had a spare pair and just had a rummage in the shed, they are only 40's. let me know if they are of any use. Regards Craig Can you post a photo of them? I have a pair of 40mm Mikuni Type R carbs. This is what they look like. I was looking to sell them, but obviously a set of Triples would have more appeal...or I might keep them for a pretty stock L24 motor in future. Zedhead70
I will over the weekend Gav, they actually look more like your previous ones in that where the ram tubes mount, the small hole there at the 12 o'clock position has parallel sides and rounded at the top and bottom whereas your second set, last photo, the hole is round. Mine do have part numbers on them which I can send you, I have a suspicion they came off a Celica. Regards Craig
Administrators gav240z Posted December 3, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted December 3, 2016 I'm guessing you had a look at the rear throttle plate area / butterfly? That will have a number on it indicating diameter of them. Or of course you could measure them to get diameter also. The pair of 40/44's I have are from a Toyota also, or were being used on 1. I got both sets for a bargain price. I usually wouldn't bother with a pair because tracking down another carb is a pain, but these were so cheap I couldn't let them go. I have had someone in the US offer me a single carb, price was a little on the high side but so far it's the only lead I have. Otherwise I'll have to buy 2 more pairs of 44's to make 2 sets of 3. Administrators gav240z Posted December 5, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted December 5, 2016 Craig thanks for the photos of your pair. Based on the Wolf Creek page. http://www.wolfcreekracing.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=69:mikuni-carburetor-id-guide&catid=30 It looks like your set of 40's are the TYPE S5. Not sure why someone drilled holes in the jet cover? Maybe to inspect them at some point? Replacing the cover shouldn't be too hard.

locklock
Gav, Try this site. They do sell standalone carbs. http://www.q-style-cab.com/3.html I believe yours is called type 4 in japan. Kameari catalogue has a list of parts and identification. http://www.kameariengineworks.co.jp/Catalogue-v3/catalogue-068.pdf Got 1 set here http://www.jauce.com/auction/h202938622 Edited December 6, 2016 by locklock
Administrators gav240z Posted December 7, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted December 7, 2016 Thanks Justin, I'll give them a try. I saw that last set in the Jauce.com link you sent, but it turns out that the auction is for 1 carb only. (Not the three in the photo). It's about ~$940 AUD before shipping / broker fee's for that option. I was offered another at $750 USD. But I'm still looking for a bargain . There is a set of Triples on eBay in the US for around $1,500 USD. Which are not a bad price really.
locklock
That q-style prices are very crazy..hehe food luck. I notice something also while searching for your type. Both are type 4, but one with "mikuni kogya" wording another without. gav240z
Administrators gav240z Posted December 7, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted December 7, 2016 The set on the left only have 4 bolts holding the cover on, the set on the right have 5. I'm looking for the ones on the right. Yes prices are crazy, I bought a set of Triples for my red 240z - 10 years ago. Cost me about $1,000 AUD landed.. Which was around $700 USD at the time. Maybe less. A good set of Triple Mikuni's are now $3000+ Sure a set of Weber's, Dellorto's, SK or OER would do, but I want Mikuni's . Administrators gav240z Posted December 16, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted December 16, 2016 butterfly is 165 I see those carbs have part no. 21100-88236 which appears to be off a RA28 Celica. http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/threads/12578-Mikuni-Solex-Carbies

dat2kman
Gav, Sorry, out of luck for me. The pair I have are the rarer 44PHH2-Q These were original fitment on the high HP U20 motor in the Datsun Sports 2000 This pair is for sale, but may not appeal to the Z fraternity gav240z
