The Global Z-car (S30/S130) Market Thread.

My favorite is that Mr K. was some Z-car deity and without his marketing genius the S30z was destined to fail. I'm sure Mr K was a very good business man, but often too much credit is given to his influence in my opinion and the work of the design team back in Japan is often over-shadowed and or ignored.

Not sure why they moderate comments though? Seems a bit pointless.

I found this car interesting - because I have never seen an example of a LHD 240Z being converted to RHD before.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DATSUN-240Z-1973-RHD-SIMPLY-STUNNING-/261972600172?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cfec8a56c

"1973 Datsun 240z.

Complete nut and bolt restoration.

Built from the body of a genuine Californian dry state shell. (Imported personally by me).

Professionally converted to right hand drive and body prepared and painted to present one of the best 240z available today.

Work completed by one of the leading marque specialists in Europe.

Restoration completed in the summer of 2013. This is my own personal vehicle owned since 2007.

Less than a 100 miles since restoration.

Built to factory specification ,using many now unobtainable new Datsun/Nissan original components to arrive to this example ,which looks like it's just rolled out of the dealership showroom in 1973.

Using genuine period Japanese RS Watanabe wheels to enhance the look and drive of the ultimate 'Japanese Ferrari'.

...

Additional info in response to an influx of similar enquiries/queries:

Body: Floor pans, hatch slam panel, sills, doors, wings, spare wheel well and rear arches etc are all original. All factory spot welds present and correct.

No rust repair work was required at all. This was a genuine unmolested original shell imported from Santa Barbara in California.

Mechanicals : Brakes completely overhauled. Engine fully rebuilt. Gear box (5 speed) rebuilt. All engine ancillaries replaced new or reconditioned. Suspension fully overhauled.

The car is just as it should be, from the Factory stereo and electric aerial and luggage straps in that back, right down to the correct zinc wire hose clamps in the engine bay."

At the time of writing - the car has had 4 bids and is at £19,500.00 (AU$41,160) - Reserve not met

I've driven this car, an can vouch for it being a really beautiful car. Top notch work. A lovely thing.

I hope it goes to a good home.

Yeah it's up there with all time worst dashes... Why you would use that and not an R34 Dash is beyond me...

I don't know why anyone would swap any dash into an S30z when the original design is probably 1 of the best looking dashboards of all time. That is 1 of my pet peeves with modern cars is that dashboards look so bland. I'm guessing it's an R33 dashboard? It does absolutely nothing for me.

Early 71' series 1, numbers matching, Solid original except for shocks/springs, bigger toyota brakes and Mallory electronic dist., hooker headers. It is an auto but I have pedal box for conversion,. Runs good could use a tire balance. The ONLY rust is 3 spots of bubbles. Pans, battery tray, frame rails, rear hatch are solid. Paint is a respray old, I just had it wet sanded and polished so it looks great from 10' . the saphari gold is original but may have been painted maroon or maroon may have been primer. There is a a slight color difference in the hood and fenders as compared to rest of the car. The dash is cracked have a cap but the cap is cracked. Someone glued a velvet headliner in at one time I started and got half of the glue off. All the emblems are there. the interior is in good shape except for a crack on a seam on the drivers side., some glue on headliner, and dash. chrome looks good.  Could be a driver quality not show. everything works except for tach and clock. all in all a good example of a series 1 car. would make a great driver or candidate for resto. It does leak a bit of oil at rear main seal. has all new fluids gas tank was drain and looks good. I can take video more pictures or ? let me know if you are seriously interested.    Please call with questions 828 242 6181 or email  $500 deposit due at final rest of $ at pick up . I can ship at owners  expense. I can ship world wide for small paper work fee. I certainly would encourage anyone close enough to schedule a time to see it before bidding.

It's funny I used to really dislike hate Jellybean mags, probably from seeing them on every second clapped out Torana with P plates on it when I was younger, but seeing them on a few Z photos lately I have come to appreciate their retro/period correct look.  It's amazing how good a Z can make things look ha ha ha.

I was the same in that I didn't like a lot of the old Australian made cars, now of course as they have left the roads I'm happy to see 1 on the road again.

Near me a neighbor has 1 of these. Toyota Corona.

I still remember being driven to School in this car. Don't see them on the road anymore...

No much more info to be gleaned from the ad, but I love the Green 907 hue and Kobe Seiko wheels. Interesting that it's missing headlight covers though.

Looks like grubby lee's might have been trying to get his dirty paws on it.

I notice it has the later style seats, I wonder if the reclining seats were an option for the 432? Or incorrect seats for this year / car?

This PS30 piqued my interest though as it's more of a 'barn find'.

Hope it comes with the original 432 magnesium wheels and not the Watanabe's.

The next PS30 has been modified quite a bit. Which I wouldn't mind on a regular S30z but on a PS30 seems a bit sacrilegious

It looks like Mr Lee has his eye on this one too. Here it is in one of his Youtube videos;

The video and the commentary show that it has;

- 260Z style bonnet vents

- Watanabe wheels

- cold air box removed and (I assume) aftermarket ram tubes fitted

- aftermarket extractors (one of you gurus will know which type)

- been bored out to 3 litres - but at about 4min:15sec into the video he says it might be 2.5 litres (I know that L series can be taken to around 3.1 litres by boring out and using an LD28 crank - but what is possible with an S20?)

- radiator fan replaced with an electric fan

- front and rear strut braces

- oil cooler added (possibly dry sumped too)

- full roll cage and racing harness

- seats that are similar to Z432R seats but with lots of 240Z style vents

- Brembo disc brakes front and rear

- had suspension 'changed'

- Nakamichi + Bose stereo

- fire extinguisher mounted behind the seats (please don't tell me its a nitrous bottle  :'()

The video and the commentary show that Edward Lee's Japan-based contact doesn't know his arse from his elbow when it comes to these cars. It's a toss-up between this guy and the Wasabi Cars clown as to who is more clueless.

If anyone uses Edward Lee to source them a car from Japan then I wish them all the very best of luck and good fortune after their unfortunate mistake.

Three litre S20? Physical impossibility. F*cking arsehat.

Can I say more, please? It appears to be good therapy for me.

Go for it, don't know if you've seen this thread?

But I certainly felt a bit better after venting about his antics. I've commented on some of his videos on Youtube, but he always deletes my comments later :P.

I'm interested to know what price these are selling for as the page only says name your price? Or does that mean they are to be auctioned?

They'd have to go for more than $100k easily based on other sales yeah?

I love the dark green one the most
