Thanks, here's to hoping around Christmas I can actually build a database not have to edit the first page of this thread :).

I just made some updates based on 24 Dat's feedback.

Will look at the WA Zcars stuff soon also.

A couple of other comments;

On Page 1 - HS30 00160 (Member Magnus) - Photo link - the link takes you to Page 1 (circular link)

Curtis posted about 00213 on Page 8 of this topic - posts

#149 & #150 (LOL @ the coincidental numbers - i.e. Lurch & Gav's cars)

Hey Ian,

I've fixed that link, added the cars from Curtis (zzzzed owns HS30 01001 now) and yes when I bought #150 I knew that Lachlan had #149. :). I had actually seen it on eBay a couple of years before I bought it and thought "geez that's a lot of work" haha. Then a couple of years later I was like "Geez that's original" and bought it.

...I've fixed that link...

The 'Photo Link' under the pic of #00160 still takes me to Page 1 of this topic (http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13773-early-girl-bingo-with-photos/#msg173192).

The link you added to the carsguide feature for the same car does what it should.

My 'LOL' was due to the fact that the replies to this topic regarding HS30-00213 (and HS30-01001) are numbers 149 and 150. When I typed them, I immediately recognised them as being the chassis numbers of Lurch's car and your car.

Fixed the broken link. It was just pointing to the post with the attachment of that photo.

Yes referring to posts by their number is causing me some confusion between the cars and the posts alright also....

#236 has been added.

Lindsay tells me he doesn't manage the Zshop Facebook page directly, it's done by friends and associates of the business. I've emailed him to try and clarify if it's #33 or #36 in amongst that photo of VIN plates.

It's a shame we don't know the fate of this car.

http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/2560-240z-dump-or-restore/

I do wonder what number it is, because of the flat fender mirrors, I wonder at what point Nissan stopped using these and went to door mirrors on AU market cars.

Also the White and Blue colour combo is pretty darn rare it would seem. I know Len Brennan's first 240z was this combo, but of all the early cars this seems to be a very rare combo for our market.

More cars have been added to the first post with photos and details.

By the way does anyone have Graham in WA's contact details? Can you PM me please?

http://performanceforums.com/forums/showthread.php?67287865-Z-Build-11ty-billion/page2

I'd like to talk to him and see if I can get photos of the early cars he has and possibly confirm the numbers also.

Hi Gavin,

I have been looking at the newly added cars and ...

HS30-00310 - clicking on the link "More photos (link here) - 907 Green was the original colour." - gives a response of - "Sorry, that page was not found." on the picasaweb site.

HS30-00319 - there are more photos at http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/12627-what-a-difference-a-set-of-wheels-makes/?do=findComment&comment=150014

Not a repost on here, but it was on Classiczcars.com a couple of years ago. Not sure if anyone confirmed it was the real deal or not though. At least the VIN seems legit.

http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16632-save-s30-0002/

I have just read all the way through the Classiczcars topic about S30-00002 and my brain now hurts.

I think the most likely explanation of this car is given in kats' post (number #123) here;

http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/16632-save-s30-0002/page-7 where he says;

"One thing I have heard recently from a man who worked for Nissan, it was common in Nissan Shatai (manufacture) stamping duplicate chasiss number for test assembling.

Like 00002 or some super early number would have been used again, they thought no-problem because those numbered car never be able to get out the factory anyway,they (real 00002 and duplicate 00002) are test cars.

This is just my thought,I think this car is not 1969/ S30-00002.

I think in 1971 they made this car and stamp S30-00002 on the firewall."

To further support this theory, compare the positions and alignment of the chassis numbers on PS30-00009 and S30-00003 ("Taken from the very first Factory Workshop manual for the Japanese market cars, and published in 1969" - Alan T. in post #74, page 4) to the number on S30-00002.

I tend to agree, I also think it was a later test mule stamped with an earlier number because it was only ever going to be a test mule. Still a significant car and worth restoring. Shame we haven't heard more about it in 5 years or so.

P.S. I just remembered a post I made a few years back about the Barn Find in Lansfeild Victoria. There are a few HS30's with pics in the report I did.

Cheers

Is he still around Lancefiled? I tried to contact him a few times a while ago but his phone was always off.

Mark I was looking around your build thread the other day trying to determine what build number your car is? Do you mind sharing? So I can add it to the thread. I believe it's in the 4XX range yes?

As a side note I also spoke to Jack a while ago.

http://www.autospeed.com/cms/article.html?&title=Yella-Delight&A=108383

His car is in the 4XX range also apparently. He couldn't recall the exact number last time I spoke to him.

Thanks actually someone sent me a PM and I haven't followed up re: Graham in WA.

I've corrected the mistake, thanks. That makes 1 less very early vin though...

He was always really hard to get a hold of.

If there's any left I'd bet there rooted, all these years outside in long, wet, cold winters!

I think the only one that might be ok is the 240 that was in his shed, but he said he wasn't selling that one.

Number 384 Gav, matching numbers

288 was my first one, which from memory Jeff from Adelaide bought but I think that it may have been cut up for parts?
