Engine Mods: - RB20DET - Garrett GT3076 Turbo (Braided water and oil lines) - LINK ECU (Including 3-bar MAP sensor) - Custom 3? Exhaust - Hybrid FMIC - Bosch 044 (800hp) Fuel Pump - Turbosmart V-Port BOV - Splitfire Coilpacks - K&N Air Filter Drivetrain/Suspension Mods: - VL Turbo Gearbox - Custom Tailshaft - 300ZX Differential - Exedy Organic Clutch - Lowered King Springs - DBA Cross-drilled Brake Rotors Exterior Mods: - Fiberglass Wide-arch kit - Fiberglass Front Bar - Fiberglass ?Lip? Wing - Custom Paint (Blue/Green Metallic Flake over Black) - 350Z Badges - CSA WIA Centreline Wheels (14? x 7? and 0 Offset) - Yokohama Y352 Tyres on the front and Bridgestone SF-330 Eager 265?s on the rear. - Autometer Pro-Comp Gauges (Speedometer, Tachometer, Boost, Water Temp, Oil Pressure) - Custom Door Trims - SAAS Sports Seats (ADR Approved) - Trust Gearknob and Black Gear-boot It's plenty a handfull, planning to do a bit of stereo work as it currently has a glovebox install with no speakers hooked up atm. A small amount of trimming on the rear strut towers and maybe dress up the rear strut brace. How long you had this puppy for?? what did it set you back? It's set to run 16psi and it has a link ecu. As for upgrades just focusing on the paint and interior. It's pretty good as it is but I want to make it perfect for putting it in car shows (it may also have a magazine shoot due soon). We don't have any actual driving tracks up here, and i'm not really one for the drag strip either (or racing at all for that matter). Toecutter Posted July 16, 2007 Share Posted July 16, 2007 Well I don't mind this kit, the cars looks very neat. I saw the same one last week at Don Hills place. He has a track car with this kit on it. The wider the tyres the better the kit looks. Of coarse each to their own but if I had this kit on my car I'd go for wheels like these. zedevan Posted July 16, 2007 Share Posted July 16, 2007 a mate showed me this car, and those exact photos, when it was up for sale and it looks like a nice paint job from the pics! although i do agree with george's view on the flares, i dont think they really flow with the rest of the body (no sharp lines, doesn't pic up on any other shape on the car etc), but then i think the same about the rbz featured car and its very VERY sexy so they can be made to work i do like the bonnet though, and they are going to b even cooler soon now misterbitchi has got the same vents on their hotted up 380. since you didn't do or choose the body work i'm sure you wont take to much offense to it, and i'm sure it will grow heaps on you if it hasn't already, specially as you do some changes to make it how you want it, and soon i'm sure even george will b drooling over it! is it a new train or an old one? i reakon the ones with the open carridges are trippy... I was thinking them or same but with chrome dish and black spokes. A question though, when it comes to Drive track width. Does anyone know what the original manufacturers specs is for center of wheel to center of wheel on the rear is? Then if you want to go wider while still staying inside the flares, who do i get to OK it. Keeping in mind i'm in Qld, not sure if that rule changes interstate. Toecutter Posted July 17, 2007 Share Posted July 17, 2007 Carlos I'm not sure how much those flares stick out from the original but my guess is they would be very similar to ZG flares. I have mounted a 17x9.5" wide rim with -19 offset fo rthe rear and 17x8.5" -6 for the front works well enough with stock spring perch. What is the size and offset of the current wheels? Maybe you could work out how much room you have to work with based on that? Have you got any pics of the interior, specially the gauges installed? zedevan Posted July 17, 2007 Share Posted July 17, 2007 in vic the laws states the tyres can only be 1" wider than stock each, and the total track width can only go 1" wider too, which would mean each wheel can b 1/2" wider on the inside and outside than the widest specified by the manufacturer for that vechical in japan you could get 10" wheels as a factory option...not that we have gone out of our way to check that whoever needs to be ok with it agrees with this, but no troubles so far, and i've had some cops stay behind me for quite awhile or drive past quite slowly while its parked somewhere etc and they havn't done anything also apparently CAMS approves the use of 11" wheels on a zed which reinforces the 1" wider than the largest stock wheel thing Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Alternative rims and tyres Many vehicle owners like to replace the vehicle?s original rims and tyres with alternatives of different width, diameter and profile. The following sub-sections outline the legal requirements for replacement rims and tyres fitted to a passenger car or derivative, or an off-road passenger car (but not light commercial), which will ensure your vehicle continues to comply with Queensland legislation while allowing for your individual preferences. Low profile tyres It is common practice for manufacturers to fit low profile tyres to high performance motor vehicles as standard equipment. Low profile tyres (e.g. 50 series), replacing standard profile tyres (e.g. 70 series or above), are normally fitted in combination with rims of larger than standard diameter to maintain the correct overall diameter of the wheel. The rim diameter may be varied from the standard size but the overall diameter of the tyre must not vary by more than +15mm or -26mm. These limits have been set for a number of reasons. Varying the overall diameter of tyres affects ground clearance, centre of gravity, brake effectiveness, steering geometry, performance and speedometer accuracy. Generally, to meet these limits, 60 series tyres are fitted to rims with a diameter 26mm larger than standard and 50 series tyres are fitted to rims with a diameter 50mm larger than standard. General conditions for alternative rims and tyres The rims and tyres must not protrude beyond the bodywork of the vehicle, including flares, when viewed from above with the wheels facing straight ahead. If the vehicle was originally constructed with a portion of the wheel protruding, the wheels must not protrude further than originally constructed. The tyre to rim fitting and the tyre to rim combination must be in accordance with the Tyre and Rim Standards Manual published by the Tyre and Rim Association of Australia. Reputable tyre retailers should have this information and be able to advise on the correct combinations. All rims fitted to an axle must be of the same diameter, width and offset. They must not have a circumferential weld other than that which attaches the outer rim to the centre. All rims must have stud hole pitch circle diameters suitable to the hub. Wheel nut tapers must be appropriate to the wheel and must engage the thread of the wheel studs for at least the same length as the nuts provided by the vehicle manufacturer. Slotted and elongated stud holes are not permitted. The fitting of spacers or adaptors between wheels and hubs, additional to those provided by the vehicle manufacturer, is not permitted. The tyre and rim must not foul wheel arches or suspension components under any conditions. Steering limit stops must not be adjusted to reduce the turning circle in order to allow the fitting of the alternative rims and tyres. The tyres must have a tread depth of at least 1.5mm on every part of the tyre that touches the road and not have any apparent defect that is likely to make the vehicle to which they are fitted unsafe. It is not permitted to fit tyres that have been treated by recutting or regrooving unless the tyre has been marked by the original manufacturer as ?suitable for recutting or regrooving?. Tyres The maximum tyre width for a car or car derivative must not be more than 1.3 times the vehicle manufacturer?s widest optional tyre. However, for an off-road passenger vehicle fitted with front and rear beam axles, the maximum tyre width must not be more than 1.5 times the vehicle manufacturer?s widest optional tyre. The nominal width of the narrowest tyre fitted to a vehicle must not be less than 70 per cent of the nominal width of the largest tyre fitted and never less than the vehicle manufacturer?s narrowest optional tyre as indicated on the manufacturer?s tyre placard. Basically 1" over the width of a standard tyre, as per the tyre placard if they have one, in the case of the Z it would be a 7" rim as standard the mags were 14x6" from memory, I'm pretty sure I put this info up elsewhere . Anyway, the track width for a Z is 1355mm front and 1345mm rear using 5 1/2" wide rims. You maybe able to go upto 10" width in wheels, and this is a big may, by getting them engineered and a mod plate fitted to your car by an approved engineer for Qld Transport.
