Moderators Zedman240® Posted October 13, 2012 Moderators Share Posted October 13, 2012 Anyone else heading up to Philip Island for the State Champs on Sunday? Weather seems to be cooperating.....and should be good as well. Heading up in the 240Z...thought I better give it a run after so many months of it being on jack stands. Gordo
Hi Dimitri , what sort of setup have you got on you zed now, springs and ride height , and can you feel the difference ?
Moderators Zedman240® Posted October 13, 2012 Author Moderators Share Posted October 13, 2012 Gordon, I have your spare springs in there still; the 360? and 240lb in the rear. Ride heights are around 645mm in the rear and about 640 at the front. Havent driven it long enough yet to tell the difference so today we shall see! Moderators Zedman240® Posted October 13, 2012 Author Moderators Share Posted October 13, 2012 Thanks Simon... Still have an annoying knocking sound coming from the right rear...replaced wheel bearings and its there still Must be either half shaft uni's or diff. You can only hear it when you are coming to a stop while in neutral doing less than 10 kph. Rhythmical, depends on speed; ie the slower you go, the slower the knock per second, or kp/s

Make sure it's not your boss running alongside suggesting it would be a great day to mow the bloody lawns!! Sounds like uni joints (half or driveshaft) - or wheel nuts A way to fix it is to never drive slow!!!!
Agno
Having driven on loose wheel nuts the knocking noise doesn't go away at any speed. It just gets noisier
Moderators Zedman240® Posted October 15, 2012 Author Moderators Share Posted October 15, 2012 Starting to think its the bearing on the input of the diff that's making the darned noise. The only thing spinning that quick at a slow speed of the car is the tail shaft/diff pinion. Time for diff removal! And as usual, haven't driven the zed in a few months any serious distances, what happens on the way there? Lady in Nissan Murano taps the zed in the a$$ cracking a tail light lens and bending the number plate to the same curve as her bumper. Need to remove rear garnishes and check for bent metal. Moderators Zedman240® Posted October 15, 2012 Author Moderators Share Posted October 15, 2012 No cracked paint...doesn't even look like she touched the body! Just the tail light and maybe the number plate part took the full force of the hit.
