wildy55
Hi all, looking to find out what these three switches on my 280ZX box are. Using it in a 240Z so only need reverse switch. Cheers
Six_Shooter
The bottom one (in the picture is the reverse light, the middle one is 3rd or 4th gear switch (4th gear I'm pretty sure), the top one I'm not sure about, if it was nearer the shifter I would say a neutral switch. MaygZ
Put a multi-tester on them and select the gears. That will tell you which on is the reverse and which is the neutral/park switch. I would suspect that, unless neutral and park are managed separately, that the third would go back to the ECU to tell it which gear you are in. luvemfast
I don't have any of those extra switches on my box. Why would the ECU need to know what gear you're in?
Riceburner
The sensor with two black bullet terminals is a reverse switch the others I have no idea.
dat2kman
Upper two are somehow used to tell the ecu you are in a top gear, and adjust tje timing or fuel delivery for more economical running, mainly to do with USA emisdions, especially stricter California. Aussie deliveted cars had no need for this, dunno wether the ecu "read" these. I treid using them to send false signal in order to overfuel engine for race use, nup, it reduces fuel, and alters timing the wrong way. I ended up using other sensors signals into ecu to get desired effect. Blew four up though, trying!!
