Soo Ended up doing the fillets just under the headlight buckets (should be a more perfect mold of the underside of the buckets. the original that we made back in day one were pretty dodgy, learning experience ) Just for the hell of it my mate elliot put teeth on the z while i carved a s130 out of foam lol It looks pretty aggressive Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

stevofoxono Posted November 22, 2011 Author Share Posted November 22, 2011 So did a bit more today Bit of shaping and discussed what the next step would be.. First layer of plaster. its finally one colour, A bit un even and not very pretty. We assumed the plaster would dry in about 30mins/1 hour but after closer inspection of the bucket its more like 24hours.. So after a few hours of waiting we added a layer of fast drying filler After about 2 hours of waiting for that to dry we called it a day. Probably will need to make a support bracket in the near future, the skewers are pretty useless at keeping it together lol Not to far from taking a mold,It doesn't look to bad at the moment Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The plaster cracked between all the joints of the foam and it took until today to dry.. apparently the layers we're a bit to thick lol. Did some sanding today+put a layer of plaster tape (sticky mesh) and defined a few of the lines+kind of fixed the flat spots Next step is fixing the middle crease 280 isn't in the pic this time.. it's kind of buggered lol Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
stevofoxono Posted February 10, 2012 Author Share Posted February 10, 2012 Its that awesome time again. update xD From the last updated picture ^ It's pretty obvious that there are a lot of low spots/high spots/wrong lines. We put a string on the middle crease just to see how we we're going.. We weren't lol. We decided to split the air dam again. The Decided It would be easier to work on in parts. The sections below the headlight buckets were surprisingly similar, after a bit of sanding and some extra plaster they weren't looking to bad The middle section = preschoolers paper mache project so we axed it and decided to do something sensible and opt for something with more strength and straight lines. Sexy wooden frame. Apart from a few bodgy measurements and a the top edges angle of 10 degrees turning to 14 it turned out fairly nicely. Follows all the lines awesomely to make it easier to handle/work on the 3 sections are going to be done separate and bolted/bonded together when its all glassed up. The middle section after a bit of work filling in the gaps and making smooth should be moulded and glassed shortly Only thing thats missing now is the Z. Hopefully I get that up and running again soon, Driving a kei car isn't the same lol Moral of the story is its easier using something that already has a flat edge then to try and sculpt one yourself. and it only cost $6 for the wood lol The new middle section is about a third of the weight of the foam and much more sturdy.
