Something that I've meaning to do for a while.....the front wheel bearing caps stand too proud for the XXR wheel centre cap to fit over the top so I got Rob from Robco to make up a Delrin spacer for me. Its a press fit bit I will glue them as well. Came up pretty well .

A couple of other things that were on the To Do list.

I've had lots of grief with clutch function in previous conversions, generally not enough throw out and clutch not releasing fully and this was down to a combination of insufficient pedal stroke/ratio's and mismatched master/slave sizes. I was determined to get this right this time and I succeeded...too well. The clutch pedal stroke was unnecessarily long and the take up point really high, up near the top of the pedal stroke. So I wanted to reduce the stroke and make a more neutral/natural feeling clutch which engaged in the mid to upper mid of pedal stroke. I'm really particular with this! The clutch master is a BMW setup under the dash but it doesn't have an adjustable push-rod so the only way to adjust pedal height and stroke was through re-drilling the point were the rod attaches to the pedal. Took me a couple of goes and in the end I had to welder-up the couple of holes I had drilled and punch a new hole mid way between holes but in the end got it spot on. Happy left foot now!

Heel and toe wasn't possible with the original brake and accelerator pedal set up. Once I had the clutch were I wanted it I was able to lower the brake pedal by adjusting the push-rod length to the same height as the clutch and hey presto, much better but still not perfect.  I need to fine tune a bit more but I've got plenty of adjustment left.....and wear some proper shoes....Blundstones aren't really driving shoes!

The original bonnet release cable had broken and been McGyvered by the previous owner. It worked but I had thoughts of the cable breaking in the middle of no where......I had some credit with MSA and lashed out and spent a ludicrous $167 on a new genuine Nissan bonnet release. Peace of mind if nothing else!

Nice work. I am very particular about that stuff as well. I call it attention to detail stuff, makes a lot of difference though when you get that stuff just right. That bonnet release cable must be gold plated surely.

Drive day with Gordo and few others today. Warby-Reefton Spur-Marysville etc.

This was the first really decent hit out I've had in the car and was very happy with how it drove and pedal mods.

My long awaited and badly needed LSD has arrived!

I had a KAAZ 2 way in the car when first completed but it was too aggressive for a road car for me. I did some research and was close to going with a Quaife gear type LSD but read that they single wheel when suddenly unloaded and were a bit unpredictable so kept coming back to OS Giken Supalock.

The OS Giken website no longer lists a Supalock for long nose R200 but a bit of interweb trawling found this:  https://whiteheadperformance.com/product/os-giken-super-lock-lsd-limited-slip-differential-unit-long-nose-r200-ns046-ha-datsun-240z-260z-280z-280zx-nissan-300zx-z31/ Whitehead insisted that they do fit the long nose R200 so I took the plunge.

The LSD is for the US spec S13/S14 240SX and looks like it will fit but has 13mm bores for the crown wheel bolts (not the normal larger 12mm bores of the later R200's). If you have a 12mm bolt crown wheel you need to buy the Nismo S15 crown wheel bolts that are 12mm with a 13mm shoulder....or if you have a 10mm bolt crown wheel like me you need to buy 10mm- 13mm sleeves from SW Motorsport or have some turned up.

Are you gonna have a go at setting it up yourself Dave?

Nah G man.

I've searched everywhere for a new 3.54 ring and pinion with no luck. My diff is a bit noisy on coast so I don't want to do anything to aggravate it so will give to the "experts" to set up.

Been away for work for a few weeks and then Mrs booked accommodation for cup weekend trip so missed the drive day and no playing cars until today. Melbourne Spring weather bought me time in the shed to fit my R200 and fill with OS unicorn oil $$$$

Just need my dirt road to stop resembling a mud boggers paradise so I can check it out.

Have done a couple of 100km on the OS Giken LSD and can confirm the awesomeness. Not a sound from it and cruising around you would think it was an open diff but when you get on it, it tightens up very quickly, smoothly and predictably. Expectations exceeded. Not a cheap option but worth the pennies.

Very happy to have picked up the award for best car at the Melbourne Datsun Day today. Thanks to CSA for putting on a great event and good turnout from the #viczcar gang.

Just to be clear, I do love all black wheels and always will......but after 12 months of trying to convince myself I've realized that they just don't work on my car. Not sure why, they just don't. So....new wheels and I'm happier now. The polished lip does the job and ties in with the chrome on the car and the hyperblack centers works with the mirrors.

16 x 8 same size as before Rota Rb - R Hyperblack.

XXR's are for sale.

I agree - they look great - they make your magnificent car look even more magnificenter!

I have to agree, the red detailing wasn't to my liking. However I also think the style of wheel is important.

I just love the contrast of Safari gold and black wheels.

I find this look hard to beat.

Of course Topy's are probably not an option with the M3 engine, but I do like the just rolled off the show room look.

Another Watanabe car/Safari Gold combo.

@HS30-H Alan's Z432-R Replica with Kobe Seiko (Wide) mags. We should all be so lucky! It really does look fantastic. I think the Z432-R's should have been this colour instead of 918 personally.

So, shitty day meant quality time in the shed.....

Same as the original XXR wheels the standard centre caps on the Rota's don't fit over the front wheel bearing caps. I sourced some generic "Speedy Wheel"  centre caps there were a kind close fit and then cut them down to fit and have glued them on with urethane sealant. By pure luck the Rota emblem was exactly the same size as the recess in the new caps but meant hacking with the grinder to remove the lip on the original Rota caps so I could get a knife edge blade under the Rota emblem and remove them without damaging.
