OK,

Well slight hicup, I left the camera cable for the camera I used at work, so pics wont be up till 8.00am tomorrow morning.

What can I say about John the owner first, and this is with no disrespect at all, he does seem to be a collector of sorts, apart from the vast Z collection there is probably in excess of another 30 vehicles sitting on his prperty, however as I explained to him, the z's he has are almost all beyond the point of being considered restorable by the average enthusiest, what I mean by that is that a die hard enthusiest with a lot of cash would see many of these cars as long term, high cost cars to restore.

What a Z is as the moment is still a sleeper in the collectables market place, just like an XB Ford Coupe was 10-15 years ago when you could buy one for $2,000.00, now one in neglected shape is worth $20,000.00, and I should know I was looking to buy one for 6 months and I have owned a XC Cobra so I know my coupes.

The Z is just that which the Ford Coupe was back then, problem with these cars is that they are at a stage where another 12 months of weathering will see them unsalvageable.

I will post a picture of each of the following cars tomorrow morning, and rate them between 1 - 6

1=Minimal Salvage Proposition - some parts no panels

2=Salvage value for some parts some panels

3=Salvage value Body less panels and parts

4=Restorable at a cost

5=Restorable depending on eagerness

6=Restorable proposition

I know John will probably read this as he mentioned he has been on line, however I was honest about the cars when I looked at them to him and will be honest here in reporting back.

Cheers

John

For those that can't wait, there are some photos of #5 at

http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,6019.15.html

You might be able to see some of the others in a "where's wally' kind of way in some of the shots.

Should this be moved into another Thread as it may well take over the e-bay thread?

A story about a lovely chap who collected 13 zeds only to let them rust and fall away into disrepair...

& with so many young wanna-be zedders who cant find zeds to restore, it all

seems quite tragic.

what an utter waste of a classic car.

Guys what can I say ?

Nothing, I will let the pictures tell the story in the morning.

Other vehicles there included from what I could see

(X3) 300 ZX's

(X1) V8 Soarer

A couple of Peu-Goats

(X1) Circa 1988 Dainler 6 cyl Sedan

At least (X1) V12 Bimma, he mentioned another

3 series Bimms's

A couple of recent 90's model Korean's

Thinks I saw a 90's Range Rover

But I was more concerned with the Zed's, Im sure you will spot some other vehicles in the background.

Cheers

Bruce,

As I mentioned in a previous post, he is thinking about prices and will get back to me, I will see what I can negotiate with him.

So rather than 1000 ppl calling him, if you guys are OK with me conversing with him, I will report back what he is thinking etc as I have done so far.

I spoke to him last night and asked me to give him a few days to think it over.

Cheers

John

I have visited John to get parts a few years back, i had relatives in lancefield and ran into him on the main street. I talked to him recently about getting some doors.... He knows his stuff, He's a very easy going and good to deal with! Last time i saw the cars they all looked reasonable, any zed could be fixed with time, but some would require a LOT of time.  13 zeds  :o  I have zed envy!

OZ001,

Here are some more photos of the red 240Z (originally Lime Yellow).  It is pretty ordinary.  I was given estimates of $12-15K to get the body right!!  Then there is interior and mechs.  The red one is the best 240Z he has (the other, but I thought the pick of the bunch was a blue 260Z 2 seater?
