luvemfast
Just competed in the Haunted Hills Hillclimb over the weekend. Track is extemely good fun. You tube doesn't do it any justice, much steeper in real life. The bad news is I only got 2 runs in (+1 practise lap), as I share the car with my dad. The half shaft adaptor failed on his 3rd run and the car had to be towed off the track. Lucky we took a trailer and didn't drive it down. With more runs I would have gotten my time down a bit more as I got to know the track. Run 1 -1:11.49 Run 2 -1:08.59 Was aiming for a 1:05, which I think I would get with more runs. Its a bit daunting when you are approaching a crest of a hill and you need to change up to 3rd gear, you don't know where the track goes as you can't see it and you know theres a corner coming up somewhere thats off camber. YEAH HA Couldn't get the smile off my face. Highly recommend for others to do in the future!

C.A.R.
Glad to hear you had fun Simon - would have been a fair hike from Moo though... My old man said it was a fairly intimidating track with lots of off-camber turns & blind crests. And those pics look awesome, Gippsland has really 'greened' up BTW did you happen to notice the shortish, portly chap with a grey goatee & possibly an Akubra hat on, doing the start line duties? stevo_gj
Good stuff Simon, good to hear someone getting active in their Z. Got any pics of your car at the track? Steve
luvemfast
BTW did you happen to notice the shortish, portly chap with a grey goatee & possibly an Akubra hat on, doing the start line duties? Yeah, is that your ol' man? Nice fella Good stuff Simon, good to hear someone getting active in their Z. Got any pics of your car at the track? Yet to meet up with anyone from this forum at an event. Where is everyone? Have some video of my dad driving. Would have some of me, if he could turn on the camera. Why are old men so technologically challenged? I mean really, you flick the switch to on, then you press the button that is near your thumb! WTF is with that.
C.A.R.
Yeah, that's the old boy. He went down as a spectator & ended up officiating Did he say anything about your Zed? My old man isn't 'too bad' with technology, but some thing's he just has NFI...
XRQTR
So this is a closed private track then?? hmmm do they hire it out to clubs and such, no doubt they do, what about a track day, kill two birds with one stone meet everyone (that comes) and give people a good idea of what hill climb is all about. your mission should you choose to accept is to get info on what costs involved, could be a good weekender actually, mine should be on the road by next week sometime hopefully so I'm in for it. zr240
HI My friend Ross with the GT40 was telling me about a black zed running there on the weekend Sound like fun might have to give the RBzed a run there do you know when the next event is? luvemfast
My friend Ross with the GT40 was telling me about a black zed running there on the weekend The GT40 was the best sounding car for the day. Awsome car. Black Z twas me (& dad. I was the faster one , he was the one who broke it :'( ) Next event is next year some time with MSCA. plenty of time to trick up my car to smash my time. do they hire it out to clubs and such, no doubt they do, what about a track day, kill two birds with one stone meet everyone (that comes) and give people a good idea of what hill climb is all about. Not a bad idea to chase up, brings up the whole NDSOC affiliation debate again though. CAMS approved club's only I would say. Would definantly be interested in going again. lightmaster240z
$2000.00 get you the track for the day regards Bruce.
luvemfast
$2000.00 get you the track for the day Does that include timing? Maybe we should see how many people would like to go and organise an event. 50 entries would cost $40 each, add a bit extra to the cost and the club can make a bit of money. zedls1
Hey guy's, track looks great, would definitely be in if we can get the numbers. Had the Z back for a couple of weeks now, hanging to get on the track. john
Scando
Couldn't get the smile off my face. No wonder you couldn't get the smile of your face, that track looks awesome! Wish we had something like that here in Tas.
C.A.R.
There's quite a few good shots over at Aus300ZX.com: And the guy in the black cap is Gerhard - be warned! And good incar footage from a Lotus: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DabvreufiVU Kevin Mackrell launching his 4WD Chev powered 260Z 2+2: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=2Xld-Di50-M
luvemfast
Can't complain with the results, except for the car not to break. I got 6th in class with only 2 runs when most others got 5 runs. Not bad to come up from 2nd last spot to upper 3rd in 3 events! This is addictive, plans are on the way to improve my times......... How can I upload this file as a pic? luvemfast
If we got the same numbers, or more, as the BBQ. Surely we could book out the track for a day.
C.A.R.
The GCC SR (Sporting Register) holds 'Fun Days' at the track every now & again. Normally there's someone there with a hand held timer... Would be far cheaper then hiring out the track just for ourselves, & far less full on for people also looking for a social chat etc. No CAMS Licence needed either... Just my 2 cents... Toecutter
I've recently become a member of the GCC. Looking forward to seeing the track myself some tim ein the near furture. Sulio
