DreamZproject
Wasn't sure to put this in body work or electrical, so I put it here. I just picked up a lovely new LiFePO4 starter battery that comes with a battery mount. I want to possibly riv nut the thing on to the firewall within the space of the existing battery tray, but was just wondering if there were any issues or methods for rivnutting into the firewall... (Do I need to put any paint to protect the exposed newly drilled metal, use the alloy or steel rivnut etc.)
C.A.R.
Robbie, make sure there is nothing behind when you drill the hole. Paint the hole after you've drilled it with any sort of paint - it doesn't' matter what you use, you wont see it. Use steel Rivnuts (not Alum) and preferably 8mm... DreamZproject
Ok sounds straightforward. Hmmmm I just realised... because I need the positive terminal towards the inside of the car, the terminals will end up touching the body... any thoughts on a solution? Thick rubber mat between it and the body? :/

Linton
maybe consider making up new longer leads and having the the posts to the front I think it would be a lot safer. d3c0y
If it gives you any encouragement I just did a similar thing to my relocated battery in my Rx7. I just used an eBay clamp, rods and some aluminium brackets I made up, secured by 4 rivnuts.
