Original Tyre Bridgestone Or Dunlop?

So here is an interesting exercise (unfortunately my 72 240z) is in Melbourne and I can't check, but don't think it had an OEM spare tyre on it still. My 71 I believe may have also been changed, but i'll double-check because I have those with me (and it's cold and dark outside now).

However I know that North American delivered cars had a Bridgestone Spare tyre (RD150 175 HR14). Photos here for reference.

I'm wondering if 240z (or possibly 260z) owners can check their spare tyres to see what they have?

I was under the impression we had Dunlop Aquajets fitted.

This might be helpful thread (from 2003)

Wasnt there a thread a while back about a fella that wanted an original tyre shipped from Aus to him in Europe / UK?

I thought you were going to help him have it shipped Gav?

The tyre was advertised on eBay or gumtree.

I assume that was the tyre type that was the OEM fitment.

That was Sean and he had someone else help him in the end. I am not sure what tyre that was but it was out of a 260z. From the thread I linked to it would appear that early 240z's had a different tyre to later ones. *Slightly*. So it's possible 260z ones were different again. Hence why I'd be interested in photos of what people have.

This won't really help you much but the 240Z That I bought new in early 1973 definitely had Bridgestones  fitted. From memory they didn't look much like the RD150. I also have a road test of an early 240Z which states that it was fitted with Aquajets.

Here’s the thread Gav.

It seems Sean and his Mate are quite confident it’s the correct tyre, for their market at least.

Not sure if pics are still associated with the thread but at least you have some people to contact if not.

Bridgestone RD150.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/G2Ts2t4SdMNRtftm2

That was out of a Review featuring a 73 model 240z license plate: LMJ-974 (Victoria)

For an earlier car in another article.

Dunlop SP sport radials (Aquajets).

Featured car was an early 240z with license plate: KSE-731 (Victoria) but car pictured on cover of magazine was NSW reg: BQD-327

But who knows if the test car was changed or fitted with different tyres later?

Another features a car that says 175SR Bridgestone tyres are fitted, but these could have been replacements?

I don't think this is original. But I think it's from the 71 (spare wheel).

I'll have to check the date stamp on the wheel itself, since although these came with my 71 240z the Topy's were dated 1974. Perhaps to go to 5j from 4.5j.

Just another one Gav...this one is from April 1971 Modern Motor and the car featured in the test was Victorian registered KNL 127

No photo?

That car is HS30 00004 (KNL 127).

Ha Dunlop SP aquajets on HS30 00004. Interesting indeed!

I wonder why they shipped different tyres in different markets? Perhaps road conditions?
