Rear Bumper Differences

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I have a 76' 2-seater. When I purchased the car the PO had filled the bumper holes with bog and painted over for a bumper delete. For the resto this was all removed at returned to factory.

Are there any differences in bumper that I need to be aware of between a 240z, 260z and 2+2?

Thanks

2+2 bumpers are wider than 2 seater.

Also 260z 2 seater bumpers appear to use different mounting brackets but the bumpers look to be the same otherwise.

Finding 2 seater bumpers is getting harder.

Bumpers are the same on the 240z and 260z 2 seaters.

Mounting brackets are different. 260z has the holes configured diagonally.

While the 240z the mounting holes are horizontal (side by side)

Ok so I thought someone posted a length here, but now the post is missing?

Anyway this is the bumper I've found, any one care to compare with their 2 seater or 2+2 and let me know?

I've never seen side brackets like this before, can anyone show me the piece that attaches to the body?

Thanks Guys,

Yes I measured up my 260 2-seat for you and posted it but the post has since disappeared.

I'm away from where my car is at present so can't immediately re-measure, but IIRC I measured 1210mm the exposed length of the centre section between the (over-lapping) end caps same as you have, & I measured along the leading (front) edge closest to the car. Take that measurement as approx because there is some built-in tolerance in the bolt holes where the sections join together. I can confirm that dimension later.

Also, the end cap fixing brackets which bolt to the side of the body are different to the one in your photos, being right angled to accept a single bolt passing through from inside the rear guard.

From your photos I think you have a 2+2 bumper there? In any case offer it up to your car and you will soon see!

A small number of posts went missing when the server was migrated across. Sorry about that.
