I think next time I'll try and get much more involved in the planning stage of it and help promote it. No big bore stroker, no big triple carbs, stock std brakes, full interior, flash paintjob, and well driven! I didn't get to see lap times, I got there Sunday relatively late. I did see your old 280z though, but didn't realise it was your old car at first. Like the simple 300ZX doing a 1:39 lap compared with Mr Flett's best of 1:48 lol. Nothing wrong with a 1:48 of course, just shows what a dedicated race car, with an experienced driver familiar with the circuit can do compared with relative amateurs no matter what car they drive. So look at it's price compared with a race S30, bang for buck is important to us less monied enthusiasts. While the rapidly increasing S30 prices are good for some they are not so good for others, racing a car and being concerned about the availability of a replacement body should you prang is not conducive to the best race experience. The 300 is a very very much modified Sports Sedan, but does not have a logbook for its currentspec, and can only verrun in basic lapdash type events, just like your cars. 260DET Posted April 19, 2017 Share Posted April 19, 2017 (edited) There is nothing odd about the Unique 300ZX Jason, seeing that you want to get personal you seem to think that anything that you didn't do is odd. Honestly a Z32 would not be my first choice but it is a Z and the amount of development that has gone into it is way more than you ever did or could do with anything and deserves to be recognised. Unfortunately in this country the only racing class where a S30 can be sort of competitive is Historics but we all know in advance that a S30 is going to be beaten by the best Porsches so good luck with that. In the US modified Zeds are able to compete on a level playing field with all sorts of cars, as you don't seem to realise racing has moved on as has the performance of production cars on a race track. As far as the Nats go that was a great performance by James Flett on his home track but obviously the S30 competition was weak for a number of reasons eg Jon Siddins wasn't there. It's just a pity that the real performance potential of the S30 is so restricted for racing in this country, who knows what good drivers like James could do if that wasn't so. Not living in Brisbane puts me out of the Z car loop but one thing that is very important when running nationals is to be in close and constant contact early on with the other ND clubs, there are so many distractions these days that like everything else they need to be promoted, a web site by itself is not enough. But, I just thought I'd check what info was at hand for the NDN15 and it seems the 1st post publishing the event ON THIS SITE gave the same amount of notice as NDN17, posted in Feb. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13098-ndn-2015-scheduled-for-the-easter-weekend-in-warwick-queensland/?do=findComment&comment=155430 I assume to organise an event like this, it is very hard to get the various venues to confirm dates and publish the info to the masses with a lot more notice than this. As an example, I'm also in the NSW MX5 club and they had an interstate track day at Winton for the first time last year for just that reason, couldn't get enough days booked in NSW to meet the club's requirements. For the Q nationals Morgan Park was booked more than a year ahead, for these nationals I did wonder what the track event was actually going to be and where, it took quite a while for solid info to appear by which time I was committed otherwise. Butagain, you donthave any knowledge of this, yet you sprout forth, again,,, Compare the owner of that 300ZX's times, that might help you to understand things a lot more. JF's car is a roadregistered built to strict regs standard car, and not a "dedicated race car", but, you do not know any of this. Note further down thetimesheets, my old , also standard, as built to regulations car, was just a few slots behind JF, with a 1.50, also running same brake setup, and breathingthrough a single factory butterfly.
