matt drago
Hey Guys, Well the stripping is more or less done and it is time to start putting things back together. Of course, there were some casualties during the stripping and I need to get hold of new nuts'n'bolts for assembly. The ones that I am looking for are those to attach the guards to the body, etc. Does anyone know of anywhere that I can get nuts'n'bolts for automotive applications? I can recall seeing kits online, but I don't think they were for what I want/need. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Administrators gav240z Posted October 24, 2005 Administrators Share Posted October 24, 2005 Hi Matt, Not sure I can help, but I'd really like to know myself. I've seen new bolts on ebay for various parts of the 240z but I'd like a kit for the whole car. Costa once told me he can get an entire kit for a 240z with every nut and bolt for something around $50 I'd imagine someone would have a record of what bolt sizes and strengths somewhere. It might be worth calling somewhere like Zshop and Zworx and asking them if they know where you can get such a kit? I think this is a good topic to keep open I know that when I stripped my 73 the wing bolts your referring to either broke or rounded. Huw
If you still have the originals, what i did was go down to my local specialised fasteners store (coventry fasteners, melbourne bolt co.) with the bolts and asked for 50 of each type (esp. the high tensile etc.) it ends up being fairly cheap and you have lots of spares spares :-) However, be careful if the head of the bolt needs to be a certain size (b/c Australian standards have changed in the last 30 years and in one case I could not buy new HT bolts with a head small enough b/c they couldn't be legally produced. In that case, i got them from a wrecker and Zworx. But it is best to get the new ones from. Hope this is some help.
Zeddophile
Just jump into your yellow pages, and look up fasteners (or something like that) For things like gaurds etc, you don't really need high tensile bolts, but all bolt shops should have pretty much every type of bolt you want, should you decide to go high tensile anyway. matt drago
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I tried the local fastener shop, but they delt mainly in building based nuts'n'bolts rather than automotive. I did find a few bolt kits in the states, but none that covered what I am looking for. Check out http://www.courtesyparts.com/s30_zcar-creations.html for the kits that I found. Once I find what I'm looking for, I'll pass on the info.
