d3c0y
They are just trying to do their own take on the Singer 911 by the look. I think if you want a full house restoration with a big hp stroker AND get someone else to do all the work, the money sounds about right to me. RockyAuto have been doing this for decades and charging this money. I think you need to re-read the ad, it's not even for one specific car. gav240z
Administrators gav240z Posted December 14, 2017 Author Administrators Share Posted December 14, 2017 Yeah if you want bespoke you gotta pay the price. Comparing prices with mass produced products and those that are bespoke 1 off prices is not an apples to apples comparison. If someone wants a custom S30z it's because they want a custom S30z. Not because they are thinking about what else their money will buy.

Lovely car, lots of JDM tax applied, if this is the actual selling price. 8,000,000 yen (AU$97,920.00) Alan do you know if these cars are legitimately selling for these prices? The early Fairlady Z-L I was a little surprised it sold that high, but I know values have been moving up. But on the flip side I see some S30Z's struggle above $50k (which often look like better value). I've seen a few auctions where I question the bidding (kind of like eBay), but is a good early Fairlady Z-L now worth close to $100K AUD? It makes me wonder why a car like Albert's HS30 00675 doesn't appeal to a Japanese buyer? https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/datsun/240z/datsun-240z-1971/7296647

This small detail would make this car look perfect. Maybe I am too critical.
Administrators gav240z Posted December 16, 2017 Author Administrators Share Posted December 16, 2017 Maybe, maybe not. The car deserves to be displayed with the Topy's and hubcaps. ? As nice as those wolfrace wheels look. It would just add value in my opinion. It's an otherwise fantastic car. Interior hasn't been restored as far as I'm aware and was left original. Administrators gav240z Posted December 22, 2017 Author Administrators Share Posted December 22, 2017 https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-datsun-240z-17/ Here is 1 to watch. HLS30 00305 build date 11/69. Great combo in my opinion 903 Blue with Blue Interior. This 1970 Datsun 240Z was acquired by the seller 20 years ago and is equipped with its original 2.4-liter straight-six and a 4-speed manual gearbox. The car is described as largely complete with solid rockers and repairable rust. According to the chassis plate, the car was manufactured in November 1969 and was originally finished in Universal Blue. This 240Z is now being offered with a clean California title. OdinZ
Dont have time to post photos tonight.... 1972 DATSUN 240Z PACE CAR US$44,900.00 Location: Farmingdale, New York, 11735Stock #: 1066VIN #: HLS3079282Mileage: 13465Transmission: ManualExterior: Blue/White Interior: Dark Red https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/datsun/240z/1929230.html 1972 DATSUN 240Z PACE CAR for sale. Motorcar Classics is pleased to present this 1972 Datsun 240Z Pace Car. In 1972 Datsun specially prepared two 1972 240Z cars to be used as the Official Pace Car(s) for the Third Annual "California 500" held on Sept. 3, 1972. It was standard practice to build two " Official Pace Cars " for an event. One would be used for promotional purposes. It would be driven around town, used for photo sessions and then presented to the winner of the race. A second car would be prepared to actually "Pace" the race. This second car usually would have it's suspension and power-train modified for higher performance, to assure that it could perform the on-track functions of a Pace Car. (that is to keep ahead of the pack of cars it was pacing ). Having thus been modified, it could no longer be Smog Certified for use on the highways. Thus the need of having one for "Show" and one for "GO". Fifty 240Z Official Pace Cars were built and delivered to Southern California Datsun Dealers Official Pace Cars during the ceremonies officially opening the " California 500 " at Ontario Motor Speedway. The foregoing information is credited to the enthusiasts and historians at the web site zhome.com, who have researched the history of these Pace Cars and who say that only one of the 50 duplicate O.M.S. Pace Cars has been found, and the sole survivor is the car we have to offer you. This 1972 Official OMS Pace Car Duplicate is at present the only known survivor. One of Fifty originally produced by Nissan Motors to commemorate the DATSUN 240Z being selected by the Ontario Motor Speedway to Pace the 1972 "U.S.A.C. California 500 Championship". This car was originally purchased from Gillian Datsun in Inglewood, CA. It was driven until the early 80's with its original O.M.S. livery. The original owner tired of the graphics and painted it with a Jaguar Burgundy then drove it until the mid 80's when it was stored away. The car was pulled out of storage and sold to a friend of the owner in 2007, who began its restoration. Photos show layers of paint being peeled away revealing the original O.M.S. Blue and White colors from 1972. The car in our showroom is this car complete with the 500RACE California license plates and frames. The car is nearly complete with the exception of a few bits of trim, and we would characterize it as being in #3 condition. It is rust-free and mechanically sound. Serious offers are invited. As reference materials, we can offer two links to the zhome.com documentation. Below each link is the full URL which can be copied and pasted into your browser as not all of our advertising venues support live links. The 1972 OMS Pace Car http://zhome.com/Racing/PaceCars.htmLocatingThe Remaining OMS Pace Car Duplicateshttp://zhome.com/Racing/OMSDuplicates.htm Edited January 11, 2018 by OdinZ
