Suggested Replacement Starter Motor

Recommended Posts

So what and where would you get a good replacement stater motor?

Some of the newer ones around really spin so much better now and my old girl sits around for a while without being driven and needs all the help it can!

New starter spins really well and is a great starter but......when I take it for a run and try to restart the starter just "clicks" and will not engage. Hit it 4-5 times and it comes good.

The guy I bought it from came back with:

I expect you have voltage drop to the starter solenoid activation terminal... Try bridging direct positive power to the starter solenoid activation terminal, I'm sure it will start everytime. It is a common fault, to overcome it You will need to fit & wire up a starter relay.

Anyone had similar experiences? Thoughts?

Thanks

I dd, on a small block hgh comp 383 cube Chev, did the starter relay rewire thing, never mssed a beat!

But first, check your earths, especially the earth from bdy to engine blck, pull them off, a good clean, bit f wire brush.

Also the pos lead to the starter solenoid, again, check bth ends.

The clicking jst means the solenoid is energising.

Battery in good, charged cond? No power drains causing t to drop in voltage?

Thread bump but ANY RB engine starter motor will fit onto an L series engine, the solenoid position is 180 out but no big deal.

I have an R34 RB25 starter motor in mine for reference sake.
