Qld Christmas 2015

Recommended Posts

That time of year is fast approaching again and it will soon be time to drag the tree and lights out again. It may also be time for some Z enthusiasts to get together round a BBQ.

As It has been a couple of years now since we in the northern states got together for a Christmas thing and Melbourne is a little far to go for a BBQ. I was wondering, Is there any interest in doing something like a BBQ and open hood lunch?

Depending on if I get into a Z by then I could be interested. The +2 is a long while off being done but am working towards another car that I hope to have before December.

Triptych ,point taken. But it is not a requirement to bring a Zed.

I just wish to follow up in the same style of Christmas event which the likes of Sexual Sushi and Peter T have done for Queensland members. I won't be setting out any type of nav run this time. I think ZCCQ do enough of them through out the year to suit members needs .Although most are not advertised here as you need to be a member of ZCCQ because numbers can be an issue from time to time.

So 19th December (Saturday) is good for me from late afternoon to late. Bring your own food and drink for a BBQ or to suit your own needs. Rain should not be a problem as I have an under cover area.

So come and talk Zeds or any motoring stories you have and partners are welcome . I do have some Paul Newman videos of his S30 and S130 racing cars to show. I will post an address late closer to the date if people are happy with this proposal.

Cheers

Aubrey

I have some chairs but bring your own may be a good idea.

BBQ at Jason's .I must admit if you haven't been to his fortress of solitude(his shed is bigger than some of our homes) it is well worth the visit.and a look over his toys.

I used to go by the name of be-zed . But long story short I lost everything when the last computer died. Gavin did fix things for me but I lost the pass word again and BONKERS still works. This happens to be a name loving bestowed to me by the family. There reasoning is that I purchased my first Zed in 1979 and helped start the first Australian Zed car club in 1984 and i haven't been able to walk away from them .There for, there must be something wrong with me.

I am BONKERS and you have to be to be around Zeds and Datsuns for this long.

Come and enjoy a BBQ in December.

I can host . I can be found at Waterford .Half way between Brisbane CBD and the Gold Coast

So I plan to have a BBQ that day (19th December) anyway for some family .So extending to AUSZCAR  will not be a problem. Speaking of extending, I have also extended a invitation to ZCCQ to attend. They plan to bring the invitation up at their last general meeting for the year on the last Thursday of this month.Same deal to them of BYO everything. There are a number of members here which also belong to ZCCQ ,or are past members so their is a connection to them.

They have also be invited to past Christmas events. But it will not be a BBQ organized by them as they do not do a Christmas thing at Christmas time. CIJ in the middle of the year is their big event and that now seems to be a bi-annual event.

So the 19th December is coming around fast . The Christmas lights are up and working, for now. Its bit like hoping your Zed will start in very cold weather. It always needs some attention to get it going.

Home is 2 Bow street Waterford 4133. Directions are on the flyer but it is just off the start of Waterford -Tambourine Road at Waterford down from the BP servo. Any time after 2pm

We had the DSOA Roadster/Faillady/Skyline/Dato 1600 crowd hare last weekend, about 50 turned up, had a few cars into the workshop for some bolt on mods fitted, a sort of " Workshop Experience Session"

One car of note that attended, was a very nice 1971 Skyline GT-R

Members from ZCCQ including the new President also attended!

Finshed up about 3pm, a very nice day!

I don't know if Paul is coming to this event as he hasn't said anything to me. Most Christmas's he flies back home to land of the long white cloud or is it low, can not remember. So an ex- president will have to do and if DAT2KMAN AND 260DET show that will make 3 ZCCQ ex-presidents. I see your tagline Richard is tribe elder so that would make me tribe fossil I guess.

Crap I forgot about this. Guy I work with sent me a photo of a few Zeds out the front of a place at Waterford about an hour ago (I pick him up for work so drive past the house everyday) asking I knew what was going on.

It was a good arvo . We could do with a few more social events like this .

But I also understand the reluctance of people to open up their homes to others who they may hardly know or not know at all. But this time around things turned out fine apart from everyone all want to eat at the same time . It was a good thing my brother was on hand to help with the BBQ .Could have done with a few more AUSZCAR fans as it was mostly ZCCQ new members and a few fossils from my time. Yes Gav that's Brian H's 432 and what a work of art it is. So I tried to make it as Christmas theme  as possible with all the trimmings but no presents.

Sorry I couldn't make it Aub...had the old man out at the shooting range at Belmont & we run over time to attempt the run down to your place.

Would have liked to catch up before Christmas...maybe we get another one organised for the new year in January 2016

I know my Dad would be happy to host the zeds! :)

That sounds like a plan Richard and your dad has had many a successful gathering at his place.

Your the man in the position to run it pass Paul and see what could happen . Perhaps Australia Day with Jap cars ?

Perhaps Richard from Warwick could trek down and Jason may be back from his Bribie Island adventure. I am sure their are many here who missed this event but would try to make the effort to come to something in January.
