CBR Jeff
Getting close with both rear quarters, but the passenger side is very close. Had a great weekend managed to spend a fair bit of time in the shed, got out for a MTB ride, took the TV to the shed and kept up with the Supercars. Cut some rust out of the drivers door. CBR Jeff
After a few months of consistent traveling it has been very enjoyable to finaly have time back in the shed. Shell is now in primer and looking fairly good. Paint will always highlights a few areas that still need attention, at least they are getting smaller as is the number of them. Happy with progress over the weekend though. Jeff gav240z, Ponyo240z, MaygZ and 2 others

CBR Jeff
Not much work on the Z this week. A bit of a distraction with the National Capitol Rally in town. Team effort to get the old tractor home in 7th outright. The Japanese boys are going home tomorrow happy. Jeff
CBR Jeff
Block sanding is very time consuming and average exercise. Thank goodness for footy on the radio. Jeff MaygZ, RAP260, Ponyo240z and 1 other
Moderators PB260Z Posted June 10, 2018 Moderators Share Posted June 10, 2018 Yes it is, but critical for a quality result. Long after you have forgotten the effort you will still be enjoying the fruits of that labour.
CBR Jeff
Time for a build thread update. I have been distracted by a couple of projects around home and somewhat slowed by the cold weather. The shed takes so long to heat up to the point that any products being used will cure or harden. I have been block sanding, gradually working around the shell. My weapons of choice are an 18” board and 12” pad with a belt sander belt wrapped around it (just happens to fit) a small block and a length of dowel with a sheet of paper wrapped around it. The length of dowel is very handy particularly along style lines and some of the harder to get places with a fatter board. CBR Jeff
An update, and not before time. The plan when I purchased my Z was to spent the days when work was a bit slow in the shed tinkering. But the last two years have been fairly constant and hence I have not been able to spend the time I had hoped working on the car. Today (this week) was a bit different. I managed to condense 5 days’ work into 4 and spent today in the shed. Lots of sanding and stuffing around with door gaps that culminated in (as it was quire warm) another coat of primer on the doors and guards. Also on the list was to finish off the inner guards mud guards. The old original rubber flaps are no more and I was not excited by how Nissan originally mounted them. So I cut some rubber and made the new flaps. Made an aluminium plate with nut certs drilled the holes and mounted the rubber on the back side of the guard. It’s getting there. I’m just glad it’s a small car. I cannot imagine the effort involved with a high end body prep for a big Merican car… Old Rocky was a big help today supervising! He had his 13th birthday recently. chris240
Good effort. Such a sunny day today, I managed to get down to 3 layers of clothing ! Back to minus 4 tonight. CBR Jeff
CBR Jeff
Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers amongst us. After quite a few weeks sanding, filling and sanding I am final happy with the outcome. On more than one occasion I have wondered if I was being too fussy but I think the end result will be worth it. The rear quarters and the bonnet (filling the hole from a vent) have taken most of the time but finaly I’m happy with the results. All of the back side of panels has had a coat of paint ready for the front side to be painted in the next week. Colour looks fantastic. Hopefully I can get a final coat of primer on then it’s time for top coat as temperatures permit. CBR Jeff
A serious lack of time spent working on the Z over the last few weeks. Quite a bit of travel for work and a major project at home have slowed things down. We had new facia and gutters installed at home so I had to remove an old pergola. Then once the gutters were installed Rocky and I built a new pergola using groove tube steel so it should last a long time. Roof needs to be installed in the next week or so then I can get back to the Z with lots of brownie points in the bag. jeff43
Nice work Jeff and Rocky. Brownie points are extremely important.I can relate completely. I have a list of jobs to do as long as my arm, some are new household projects (I'm a gluten for punishment) some are just routine maintenance that I have been putting off for too many years. The ZED is on that list as well, I will just juggle as best as I cab and see where we end up. Keep at it and I will look forward to a ZED update shortly. Cheers Jeff CBR Jeff
CBR Jeff
Very stop start on the Z over the last few months. The pergola is finished, painted roof and plumbing all finished. Boss is happy so that’s a thumbs up and I have a good supply of brownie points in the bank. I have been all over the place with work. 5 Days in Adelaide then almost a week in Perth and finally 3 days in Sydney all in the last three weeks. This weekend was been dedicated to getting the Z to a point that it can be put under a cover for a spell and pushed to one side in the shed while I get some new suspension fitted (to me). Into hospital tomorrow for some knew knees so it will be small jobs, and I have quite a few of them over the next 6 to 8 weeks. Disappointingly that means I’m missing rally Australia this year. But I did have some parts arrive from Japan with all of the spare parts for the rally car. Opened the box and the boys sent out a set of front breaks MK86 breaks (vented). Gee they look nice. CBR Jeff
The new suspension, ball joints and bushes are finally starting to work properly. So back to the shed this weekend. I did have a long list to get to during my rehab but that all went south very quickly. It was a bit more debilitating getting both legs effectively broken in two places and lumps of metal inserted. All the better for it now though. Jeff
