BikerWill
Hi guys, I'm looking at a 260z that has been fitted with an L28 and a 5 speed Skyline box (with a custom made tailshaft). The owner did not do the mod so he cant tell which model skyline it came from, just that it is longer than a z box. I have no idea of the diff ratio either, but it was being prepared as a tarmac rally car before the owner lost interest. Anything I should know/worry about this gearbox? Thanks Will
d3c0y
It's probably an RB20 gearbox. It's a pretty common thing to do to get a stronger box. You just swap the bell housing from the zed box onto the skyline box. If you have a look in the gearbox sticky it talks about what's involved. dat2kman
Rb20 box is same length as stock box. Does not need custom tailshaft made! It'll either be a rb30 box from a VL commodore, or a Sylvia box, these are 50mm longer, and just require tailshaft shortening.
pauly_adams
last vl box I measured was the same as a z box also, silvia and r33 are longer however
