Z Regularity challenge

On the 7 and 8 December the Festival of Sporting  Cars (FOSC) is running a two day event at Sydney Motorsport Park (Eastern Creek) on the South Circuit.

As part of the meeting they will be running a number of Z only Regularity events over the two days and at the present time we have about 13 confirmed starters with 2 or 3 more possibles.

I know this is not racing, and that some people in Qld may look down their noses :), but in NSW we take any opportunity to give our Z's a run without getting into the semantics of whether an Sc car or a 'hot rod' is quicker. We will probably have both and still have a lot of fun and we appreciate the FOSC organisation giving us this opportunity to showcase the marque. If there is sufficient support there is a possibility of running a challenge over the four FOSC meetings scheduled for 2014. Imagine the kudos of having the most regular Z in NSW!

If anyone in NSW is interested make a note of the dates and come along for a look and say g'day!

I've been running in regularity at all the FoSC meetings since the Qld Z Club went to Bathurst with them at Easter 2010. They run a very tight, well organised meeting, I would highly recommend having a run at one of their events.

Unfortunately, I won't be competing at this meeting for the same reason I had to withdraw from a meeting at Phillip Island next weekend (surgery on shoulder) but will most likely be down there waving flags.

Give James and Wayne at MIA Engines in Brookvale a ring, they aren't on here, and may not inow about it.

Also, Stew Wilkins may have a car or two that needs "testing" ,

Carlos Camiri at Sports and Classic, may still have his rally car?

And no doubt Sydney Z club is all over this!

If you get enough, FOSC may give the Zeds their own whole field!!

James and Stewart are already across it and even with 13 starters FOSC are giving us our own Z only events. This was a bit short notice for some but hopefully by the time of the meeting we may have a few more starters or at least generate some interest for next year if all goes well.

Well the entries are in and we have 15 confirmed starters for our Z only Regularity event, this includes Grp Sc runners James Flett, Chris Gray and Russell Stanford.

The Z events will be run on Saturday the 7th with practice in the morning and 3 events being run during the afternoon. A number of the Z's will also run on the Sunday being incorporated into either the normal Regularity fields or the Historic Sports and Touring car races.

We will be housed together on the pit apron and anyone is welcome to come and say hi. Who knows, we may even see a certain yellow 240 that is about to return to the road after a long absence!!

As well as the Z regularity events, there are also races for an Alfa challenge, Historic Sports and Touring cars, Historic Racing cars, Excel challenge and other Regularity events.

Hope to see you there:)

While our Vic friends are enjoying Gordos hospitality on Saturday, here in Sydney 16 Zeds will be competing  in the FOSC Regularity Challenge at Sydney Motor Sport Park (Eastern Creek). It should be a fantastic day.

Free admission makes it even better.  Come and say hello.

Sunday reverts back to  normal regularity fields with about 10 or so  Zeds running.

Cheers

Vince/Geoff

Well a great weekend was had by all with 16 Zeds lining up for a days competition.  As some would expect (Jason), the Group Sc cars were quickest with James Flett doing 1.05.4, Chris Gray 1.05.9, Russell Stanford 1.06.1, the first road registered car was Greg Redman with a 1.07.2 followed by the rest in the 9's through to the 13's. Results are on Natsoft.

I have attached a few pics and hopefully we can do it again next year.

The first FOSC meeting for 2014 is fast approaching! Wakefield Park near Goulburn on the 4-6 April.  Just putting it out there in case anyone is interested (any Mexicans??)

The entry forms are available on the FOSC web site and we are trying to get sufficient numbers to run this event again.  Everyone enjoyed the December meeting at SMP and it would be good if we could do it again!
